Opinions of woodlook tile and would you put it next to real wood?
Comments (2)I really don't see the appeal of the wood look ceramic tile, but it must be popular, because everybody is making it. Just me, but I wouldn't like to put it up against real wood. If you like it, then go for it. You're the one that has to live there, not anybody else....See MoreWould love backsplash opinions! Picture of kitchen included
Comments (12)I would prefer a tile that would blend with the wall cabinets. If you went darker, you would have a striped effect, with the dark molding at the top, then light wall cabs, then dark backsplash, the light countertops, then dark onthe base cabinets. The overall effect would be to make the space seem smaller. People spend a ton of money on backsplashes and they really don't show that much if you are forced to keep coffeemaker, mixers, toaster ovens, dishdrainers, crocks, etc on the counters. You can have fun with your window treatment and dishtowels, little potted plants or other accessories that you can change with the seasons to "pop" if you'd like. Once you choose some funky backsplash, you are not going to change it, ever! And will forever be trying to decorate around it. That said, you can use some decorative inserts that pickup the floor or base cabinet color. But probably just an interesting installation of neutrals will be enough to set off your lovely kitchen cabinets....See MoreFinally, they meet! My granite, sink and faucet. (pic heavy)
Comments (45)I'd definitely agree about glass giving your space a more modern direction. I'm thinking black glass would also be very 'hard' visually -- another surface with a 'strong, masculine' bent. Is that something you want? What direction DO you want to go in? (If it were me, I'd tip just a bit back to the 'softer and more feminine side' with a ceramic tile with a bit of a 'cushion' shape (handmade) and a color that's rich but not too dark. I'm thinking a simple 4x4 on a diagonal layout with a frame treatment over the range... While I love the metal decos, I think they may add too much 'clutter' to an element that needs to be more 'background'. You've also got a lot of outlets in your splash -- so there will already be things there -- things you probably don't want to draw the eye to......See MoreI would love some opinions and ideas for a vanity mirror please!
Comments (9)Could you get the Stockholm or Target mirror in black? I think the large black framed mirror will clash with the sink and the simplicity of the subway tile. It's looking great so far!...See MoreMrs. S
