What would you do if you had to replace this wall?
Comments (11)Vjrnts - This picture is pre-fire. And yes, I was heartsick. I'm trying not to be now, but at 80+ years old, I guess it is time to build a new one. I should let you know that the exterior is still standing and perfectly intact. It's just there is so much structural damage inside that this wall will have to come down. I know it will never look like the original, but we're attempting to infuse the new one with age. The history is this: it was one of the first homes up in the Lookout Mtn Park section of Laurel Canyon. It was built to replicate the Frankenstein castle in the original black and white move. The black and white Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was partially shot in the caves in the back yard. I bought it from the original owner's son, and we intend it pass the property onto our son as well. It's really kind of funky by today's building standards. But it was much loved and has been lived in by a number of stellar talents. Here's a pic of the living room:...See MoreWhat color to paint kitchen with this back splash?
Comments (16)Thank you all again for the wonderful suggestions. I'm liking the gold suggestion more and more just because we are already going with gray and white in the bathroom and in our bedroom. We have not decided on colors for the living room. The dining room will be a shade of light blue and white. Each room is compartmentalized so I don't have to worry too much about flow but I think the white in each room will bring them all together. Now I just have to get hubby on board with the gold!...See MoreWhat countertop type/ style/color would you do with this combo?
Comments (36)Just a thought. Do you have to have some of the caramel in the counter? Once you choose a counter with caramel, your counter becomes less neutral and perhaps less timeless. I know you have caramel tones in your wood, but wood is supposed to be neutral so your are not required to repeat.it. Not saying the caramel is not nice and would not look great, but I just want to be sure you see that you could go with a counter with more neutral colours in it if that was what you find. The bianco drift I posted does not have carmel in it, but aside from that is similar to your inspiration photo you posted above. Comments (14)Groveraxle, it’s the lighting on the picture- the siding is beige on the back of the house. And yes, we have to replace all of them - 75% of the seals have broken and the windows are cloudy. Plus the contractors that gave us quotes have said it would cost more to do it piecemeal. So, we are just going to bite the bullet. But the siding is old and will eventually need to be replaced. We are just trying to make the best decision without pricing ourselves out of the neighborhood with improvements but still want it to look ok....See MoreManuel San Luis
