Congratulations on your new house! The brick is beautiful! Some bricks are yucky. Please don't paint it. Painted brick is ok, but it defeats the purpose of having brick. Painted brick needs more cleaning. It's also considered fine to paint brick by some people who have seen it or lived with it, while other consider painted brick a step down in elegance/sophistication. If you have a choice, why step down? Colors for your home style would more appropriately be dark. Dark grey to near black with undertones of blue to violet to brown are appropriate with the brick color. When you replace windows, make the exterior dark too. White just is really bad with these houses. You also have a big blank nose in the center of your house. Both could be enhanced by putting a covered porch on the house in front of the center bit. It should extend over to the right to cover your entry door. Wide stone or stamped concrete steps down from the new porch to the driveway would look stunning. I like installing radiant heating under stamped concrete so I never have to think of shoveling them. Eliminating the curved elements of the facade would help to modernize it- the arched windows ( are they new? ) , the curved brick walls along the sides of the garage and right front of the house. Simplifying the exterior, removing the boxed out structure in the garage gable, removing the trim pieces along the garage wall, squaring off the garage door openings, all would update the appearance. Have you decided on a budget?

Ignoring the large element on the right for now, the house is a Garrison Colonial with stripped-down Neo-Classical columns and pediment. Unless you're comfortable with the inherent architectural contradiction and since it would be virtually impossible to get rid of the second floor overhang, one solution would be to remove the pediment and columns, add the missing trim board at the bottom of the overhang, use a more interesting paint color on the upper part and possibly paint the brick. To add some interest to the roof you could add some dormers if the roof slopes enough to allow it. Perhaps the large element on the right including its trim could be painted dark color.

can you post a picture of the roof color you're getter? pewter can have blue/gray tones, or brown tones Right now, in your picture, I see regular red brick paired w/a very cool tone siding color. almost looks like a lavender gray. which direction is the front of your house facing? North? East? let me show you a few before and afters , some of which have the replaced windows. see what you're drawn too this frist one did exactly what you want to do to your arch windows. Doesn't look bad. a slightly diff style home though. I like the addition in the gables, the painted brick, updated front door another one w/the rectangles. don't care for it here. I'd do a larger window (black one) and close up the rest of it this one is similar. they removed the arch and didn't replace it. covered it w/the shake. limewashed the brick, took down the arched entryway. added the shutters. looks a bit more french country a bit more modern w/the black windows, wood garage door. new windows (Rombio Classico on the brick) They kept the arch, but removed the grids. along w/the painted brick, wood accents, black windows, it really looks updated
