How much of the exterior entry door should be painted SW Urbane Bronze
Comments (11)Dollars to donuts you can't paint any of the "window" frame that dark. You need to check the warranty for color specifications - usually states no colors with an LRV less than 55. So, that might help you decide what to do rather quickly. Same with the door. Going from white to the color you're considering is dramatic. It's usually based on price. Cheaper doors have a smaller range of color options, more expensive usually can be painted a broader light to dark range....See MoreWould replacing all interior doors increase sales price of the house
Comments (45)I do look at doors, but more as to what it says about the quality of the house, if that makes sense? The house we live in now was outdated - classic "grandma special" - but has solid wood doors throughout. We looked at another home in the neighborhood with a similar layout that had been "updated", including with cheap big box doors and you can just tell the difference. To me, it spoke to the quality of the build/improvements/home in general, etc. That being said, OP: I would say don't bother with the doors, unless, as stated, there are obvious issues with your current doors. The investment won't be worth it in return on price, but you might get a return by way of a quick sale - so it may depend on your situation. Many people don't care much one way or the other or notice these things - many are more concerned with aesthetics, which is why "Menards flips" persist. (And, no, Bry911, I know you do good work, not talking about your flips :)...See MoreTraditional exterior to Modern exterior possible?
Comments (21)Please move. Really. Don't try to make a house into something it isn't. This is the equivalent of marrying someone so you can "fix" them. It's a terrible idea. There are things that you can do to improve on what you have (those clipped garage door openings - and possibly the garage doors themselves - for example). But in general, the home looks great as a traditional exterior. If you want a contemporary, buy a contemporary....See MoreExterior paint advice - SW Alabaster and urbane bronze
Comments (8)All the shutters need to go IMO new garage doors with more glass and then if you want urban bronze all the windows need to match with the trim around them. IMO a white house among trees is always going to show the grubby stuff that comes from trees I love a grayed green in amongst trees the peaks are not IMO worth accenting so whatever you choose for siding color just do those the sam I would do nice pergolas over the garage doors with some good vinses grwoing over them and change the window to a really nice vent instaed....See MoreEmily L
