Our family really likes giving and receiving consumable gifts. We know so many talented bakers that snack time during the holiday season is truly something to look forward to. What are your favorite recipes for holiday yummies to give away? Below is a new favorite of ours. Very easy, and so moist and delicious!

Pumpkin-Black Bean-Chocolate Brownies

Servings/Yield: 24 servings | 24 brownies

1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained OR 3/4 cup (4.5 ounces) dried beans, cooked, rinsed, and drained

1 cup water

1 package brownie mix

1 (15-oz.) can pumpkin or 15 oz of pumpkin or sweet potato or winter squash

3 large eggs

½ cup heavy cream

⅓ cup firmly packed light brown sugar

1 ½ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice

½ teaspoon kosher salt

1. Cook your dried beans, if needed, and drain.

2. Cook your pumpkin, sweet potato, or squash, if needed, and drain.

3. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

4. Blend black beans and water together in a blender until smooth; pour into a bowl. Stir brownie mix into black bean mixture until batter is smooth.

5. Reserve 2/3 cup batter. Pour the rest of the batter into prepared baking dish.

6. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

7. Whisk together pumpkin/sweet potato/squash and next 5 ingredients; pour over brownie batter in pan. Top with reserved brownie batter, and swirl batter gently 3 times in 1 direction and 3 times in the opposite direction with a knife or the end of a wooden spoon.

8. Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

9. Cool completely on a wire rack (about 2 hours). Lift brownies from pan, using parchment paper sides as handles. Gently remove parchment paper, and cut brownies into 24 squares.
