Comments (11)Thanks for all of your comments/feedback! John, now that you mention it, I'm remembering that two or 3 of mine also bloomed for a 2nd time in the Spring, when the days are longer. Granted, it was in early Spring. When does Daylights Savings Time kick in? I'm sure I didn't write down the bloom dates, so I can't go back and verify. Darn! Oh, also my small one at work is setting buds. It is usually cool in the office and pitch black every night, and on weekends. It only gets flourescent lights for 8 hours a day. I haven't bought any online, BUT if you are referring to Whitton's GH....I've heard nothing but good things about them. Healthy, good-sized plants. I've been looking for 'Cyberdancer', but am not having any luck finding one. It seems the Cyber series is not in the U.S. anymore. The Dancer series are pretty prevalent, though. Now I'll be going outside everyday looking for buds, like a madwoman!...See Moregood luck, you're on your own (long rant)
Comments (8)Sorry I didn't make myself clear. Our consumer organisation was criticising companies that were making their products appear environmentally friendly when they either weren't or they had a token benefit while still having undesirable aspects, and some of the claims were irrelevant or downright ridiculous anyway. Can't remember exactly but there were products that never contained the bad ingredient "b" and wouldn't logically require bad ingredient "b" that were being labelled "guaranteed b-free" just because "b" was in the news a lot. The dolphins were being put on products that had nothing to do with dolphins, oceans, anything like that. One product was promoted as producing an environmentally-friendly by-product which wasn't. It was nothing more than an exercise in feel-good marketing with absolutely no substance. Makes people confused and cynical. I've been interested in environmental issues for about twenty years. Lately it has become fashionable. In some ways that's making things easier for me but in other ways it's not. A lot more information out there, a lot more products. A lot more research. When we were looking for a new house we saw a couple advertised as solar- passive. One was tri-level with the two storey side almost all glass, the other was single level with lots of glass along one side. They had the "solar-passive look" that's for sure. One faced east, the other west. I don't take the realtor's word for it, I carry a compass. I think we are at a turning point. We can take it seriously or we can indulge in a feel-good exercise. When people who make a profit or are funded by our taxes to spread the environmental message treat it as a fashionable feel-good exercise I am concerned....See MoreFound my own Christmas present
Comments (5)The guy phoned yesterday. Looks like i got them both. He has two extra carbs for those motors. They alone are worth over $150.00. Hope to pick them up saturday. Feel like choking this guy. He GAVE AWAY a 34 ford coupe to a museum. He thinks the 21 bolt motor fit that car. Don't know if he gave away the car without the motor but i think he did and got the 21 bolt motor after the fact because if the motors wern't sold they also were going to the museum. The older motor was rebuilt and run 3 years ago. Made the mistake of telling a friend of mine about these motors. He wants one. NOT. He is the kind of guy that wants something new or a new toy he just writes a cheque. He ain't getting a motor. He can get his own. He can actually buy a new one with the vehical if he wants. Actually he did. He bought a running restored 1945 ford half ton. Yes i said 1945. It was built for the army. When the war ended the leftover production trucks were sold still in army green to the public. The 21 bolt motor fits that truck. That is the motor he wants for the same price i payed after i go and get it. I don't think so. I'll just keep it a secret. Kind of looking forward to getting these old lungers. I remember hearing them run on the dyno after the rebuild. Man are they quiet. We ran them on natural gas and 180 degree water. It took too long to get the temp up on natural gas compared to gasoline. You couldn't even smell them while they were running. No fumes....See MoreIf you make your own dog, cat and pet treat you need to read this
Comments (5)Good tip! I got a recipe for liver treats, and considering all the disgusting revolting and harmful crap that goes into the base for pet food and treats, I have decided to start making my own treats as well. As for the regular food, I switched to Natures Variety after much research and my dog and cat loved it from the start. It is a little more expensive but much healthier so could save in vet bills in the long run. If you email Natures Variety and say you would like some samples, they send you a coupon for a FREE 5lb bag. (valued at around $9 depending on where you buy it) Anyway, here is the recipe for liver jerky Cook some calves liver in water, till done (don't overcook, look for timing on poached liver either in a cookbook or online) Add some chopped garlic to the water for extra flavor Remove liver and cut into bite size chunks appropriate for your dog's size. Place on cookie sheet and into a 200 degree over for 2 or 3 hours, till dried. Store in a container in the fridge. The whole point is to turn it into "jerky" and some new ovens, like mine, have a food dehydrating setting, but the low heat/long time setting in a regular oven should work fine. If you try it, I would love to hear how it works out. I have finals this week, but will have more time next week and plan on making a huge batch to give as xmas presents to dogs of friends and family and to the rescue group where I got Oobi. Now, Ms minnamouse, I wonder if I add lemon juice to the liver at some point if it would help it to keep longer, so it won't have to go in the refridgerator...any suggestions on when to add it? Although, jerky is supposed to keep forever, AND these treats are so delicious that they won't last long!...See Morebpath
