Seems like if you’re trying to create something that looks like a wood floor, you would want to match the grout to the tile color.

Select the color you notice least.

How big is the space? If it is pretty large, you can get away with a darker tile - but it will look busy, not in a bad way, but you need to consider other patterns you have in that area. The rug I see to the right, could look good on top of a busy/contrasted flooring, if it's in a fairly large space.

What other floor coverings will be adjacent to this tile flooring? If they are heavily patterned, I would not go for high contrast.

The safest bet, is probably the middle. It picks up the mid-range colors in the tiles, and is neutral.

The tile will run throughout our entire house (1 story, ~2000 sq/ft). It is a new build so we don't really have anything picked out in the way of other floor coverings yet. It is feeling like the middle option will be a safer bet. We've see pictures of darker/contrasting grout online that we like, but have been scared it might be too much and we might not like it across our entire house.

I think you'll get more of a neutral with the middle one - and then you can go very contemporary, or even rustic with your overall style.

I'd select the top or middle one. The bottom is too dark.

Go with the middle as it blends into the tile better and will minimize the lines.

I too say middle. Remember: grout always gets darker over time (because life happens and gravity works and mud sticks).

The one way designers will 'match' the grout to a porcelain tile is to look at the EDGE (as in the cross section) of the tile. A 'through body' porcelain tile will have a colour that is throughout the tile. That's the colour you are after.

So if you take the plank in the picture and stand it on it's long edge (the other long edge facing 'up') what is the colour you see? I'm going to bet it is VERY close to the middle colour of grout chosen.

If in doubt, go with the matching colour to the 'body' of the tile. You see that at on the edge of the tile. Easy peasy (sigh...don't you wish someone would post this somewhere?).

Just remember the grout will get dirty - foot traffic, food and drink spills, just being grout. I like the darker for that reason and might even suggest a darker color floor.

Vinyl tile looks just as good. Is softer on your legs. Easier to maintain. Won’t chip.

I have dark wooden looking tile with white grout lines.. if you want it to look like real wood planks do almost a zero grout line. Otherwise, in my opinion- it still looks like tile and too much time is spent scrubbing grout! Hope this helps!

Go with the color closest to the tile color. That appears to be the middle one on my screen. The bottom one is definitely too dark.
The grout is not supposed to stand out on wood tile. It defeats the purpose. It is supposed to mimic a wood plank floor and so the grout should
Fade out of sight.

Grout shouldn't be a design element! Butt those tiles a close as possible and pick the most invisible grout color, then go a shade darker. Floor tiles are always dirty and anything light will drive you crazy.

As a couple people have said the grout width is just as important as the color. If you look at the wood your tile is sitting on, there is no line. So I’d go with a 1/16 inch grout line. Such narrow lines requires a talented tile setter, so I hope you have one available. That so I don’t really like any of your grout color choices. Your tile has a yellow undertone and none of your grout does. I’d look at a different manufacturer and see if they make a different color set. From personal experience I know floor grout tends to darken over time so of the choices you’ve shown I’d go with the middle one. If it’s a high wear area, you might consider an epoxy grout for durability.

Totally disagree with comment about epoxy grout. Mine dried out and it was horrible time trying to find someone to redo but my older regular grout has been just fine. Use very thin lines so it disappears into "wood" as much as possible.

Sealing your grout will help with maintaining the color and making it easier to clean. Since it's a new build, you'll have the opportunity to seal a good part of it before it gets covered up by floor coverings, furniture, etc. After then, just maintain the areas that are exposed.

Why have grout? Use LVP.. waterproof and many colors!!

I agree that the middle is where you want to be but it is maybe not quite the right shade to match the tile and that's what's puzzling you. IS there another grout manufacturer who has similar but slightly different shades?? At 2000 sq. feet I would look a bit harder before I decide!

Very simple. Look at the colour variations in the tile. Pick a colour that is lighter than the darkest and darker than the lightest. Can't go wrong with that....
