I guess a cape around the plants would keep him away, but I dont think you want a cage around your plant. I wonder if they have a motion detection alarm somewhere that makes a barking sound. That could be enough to scare it away but cats are pretty smart so it might not be a permanent fix! Good luck! Hope the damage wasnt too bad. -Alex

Wow. My Cherokee Purples never looked like that. That's interesting. **** Occasionally I've gotten some CP fruits where the stripes were that disctinct, but not that often. Usually the stripes become more faint as the fruits ripen, and I think that the above shown fruits are not that ripe yet. Bart, as I explained above, the difference between CP and Indian Stripe is not just the distinctness of stripes and any particular stage of ripeness. The difference is the color of the fruits when ripe, the number of fruits in a cluster and the smaller size of the fruits for IS. If you were growing CP and Indian Stripe next to each other in the same season I know you'd see the difference. After all, it would be expected that the two are quite similar b/c in my opinion and those of Craig and some others, IS is a version or strain of CP grown in isolation for many years in Arkansas, geographically separate from the CP that was given to Craig LeHoullier from John Green of TN. There's also a thread here showing such stripes with a variety whose name begins with "A", I forget the full name right now, but it originates in the former USSR, and it too might be confused with either CP or Indian Stripe.
