Back-splash Help
Comments (6)That's an awesome idea. Lots of color, texture, robust surface for grime, etc. I'd glue 'em down using a siliconized latex adhesive caulk. (Siliconized latex caulk has more adhesion than plain latex caulk, but is much more removable later than pure silicon caulk. An example is a product called White Lightning 3006) Run a generous bead on the inside half inch edge and a zig zag down the middle then press firmly against the wall, checking that they don't shift. This will hold them fine but is also removable later with care. Just make sure the back sides are clean, for the adhesion....See Morebacksplash, floors, paint colors! help!
Comments (7)That's great you posted an inspiration photo of a floor you like. It reminded me of Durastone which I have never had but you could look into it, look at a sample, and ask people here if they like it. I suggest you find more inspiration photos so you can see gray and white cabs with carrera type counters and what color or tone of floor they have. An inspiration photo helped me SO much and I copied the cabs color, counter and floor and backsplash since I liked it. Saved me A LOT of research and hunting plus you can go in a tile store etc. with the photo in your hand and it helps the salespeople get started. In the website Houzz.com I tried the search words 'driftwood gray and white kitchen' and there are interesting results. Play with different searches and you can save the pix you like. In one pretty gray kitchen (below) in the comments the paint color for the gray cabs is mentioned: Silver Lake 1598 by Benjamin Moore. Search this forum for the kitchen of alabamamommy and you will love the white and gray together. One of her threads with pix is: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg0201052512934.html One of the threads I saw in this forum about gray kitchens recommended a custom cabinet company website Downsview. Check it and there are some cool gray examples. http://www.downsviewkitchens.com/gallery/traditional But this pic pasted below is from Houzz [traditional kitchen design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-kitchen-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_709~s_2107) by seattle kitchen and bath Warmington & North Here is a link that might be useful: Durastone website...See MoreBacksplash Help...small SS backsplash??? Comments (8)Thanks prill...I'm leaning towards only doing tile in area to the left of the casing...then in the window area just doing paint and the casing down to the counter. I guess I'll just have to be more dilligent with cleaning. The Reef was the first tile that spoke to me...I really thought I was going to go for a more solid blue, but reef is so much softer....it allows me to play up the color of the walls more...not that I have a lot of walls...And, I found out that my designer can get it for about 12.50/sf where I was quoted around $15/sf....See MoreBacksplash and paint color help
Comments (6)The benefit of romys suggestion is that handmade tiles like these from Fireclay have color variation that will speak to the multicolor feel of your floors, without adding too much complexity. The tiles below are in a glaze called Milky Way. I think a warm grey, or greige, would be lovely in your space. This is Slipper Satin from Farrow and Ball....See MoreSonja Suitor
