Akimbo, those 8" cabinets are awesome! I am currently looking into installing an IKEA tall cabinet into my hallway linen closet to make it look like a built-in. We did a custom wardrobe in our old house with IKEA cabinets that turned out great. I love that IKEA's cabinets are so easy to modify (even though they have done everything to discourage it). The 2nd and third photos are the Kitchen we were working on when I asked you about the upper cabinet depth/microwave issue. We ended up using a spacer behind the microwave.

We discovered yesterday that there is a mystery part of the double wall oven cabinet that you only learn about in the instruction manual for their Nutid oven. Basically the shelf that the oven will rest on is not the standard one that comes with a Sektion cabinet, but a special reinforced shelf that has ventilation in the back and comes with special brackets for holding the shelf. The part is called the Utrusta reinforced cabinet shelf and the part number is 902.656.23. My contractor was really worried about the cabinet supporting the weight of my oven until we discovered that we hadn't been advised to get this additional piece. I don't know what the weight rating is for it and we've got a Kitchen Aid double oven (which is only 320 lbs). But, this is one thing to be aware of....

Our last kitchen was Ikea akurum with 12" uppers, so when the Sektion uppers were installed on both sides of our narrowc galley I though, "uh oh, those are huge," But Im used to them now and they're fine. I think theyre 21" above countertop, but I'm almost 5'8" and dont have a problem with reach. We keep a kik-step at the end of the galley so my small kids have no problem getting stuff down.

@Shelly Mac - I figured that you probably just were busy with “life” when you returned home - I didn’t want to bother you again re: measuring the space. I actually haven’t figured that part out yet! I do have the Godmorgon vanity in a box in my garage. I figured that I’d order two different sinks - and keep my fingers crossed that one of them worked! If you still have the measurement - I’d love if you’d post it. If not, I’ll figure it out eventually. After all, your linked directions had been more help than I would have expected to find! I think that I’m “over thinking” this whole process! My contractor is great - and I’m sure that he will know how to support the countertop. I just have a difficult time giving up “control“ in general. To be honest, I think he’s probably a bit “frustrated“ because of my micromanaging! He hasn‘t said anything (or acted as if he is) - but I think he’s used to receiving information regarding the general desired look - and then having quite a bit of flexibility with the design. In fact, that’s part of the reason my friend recommended him - she basically gave him a inspiration photo - and let him run with renovating her bathroom. It turned out very nice. But that’s not me - especially not after spending quite a bit of time reading through posts on Houzz! There are times I kinda wish I hadn‘t found Houzz - I never would have had to spend so much time selecting white ceiling/trim paint! FYI - looking at the photo of your master bathroom vanity, makes me wish I would have combined a few of the Godmorgon vanities to use in my master bathroom. I REALLY like the look of the the thicker countertop because of the mitered edge. It really makes a lot of sense to take the $$ saved by using the Godmorgon cabinets + custom doors vs. an entire custom made floating vanity - and use it towards a really nice looking (thick) countertop!
