Tea Clipper vs. Port Sunlight.
Comments (4)I for one am feeling more cheerful about Texas' drought, as a few months ago much of the state was in D4 Exceptional Drought (as were parts of New Mexico and Louisiana). Try clicking on the "12 week animation" below the large map and watch the slow transformation starting with November 8, 2011. We had 3" of rain this week, and north Texas had even more, so I am sure that next week's update on the map will be even more encouraging....See MorePort Sunlight
Comments (3)Yes, I've been growing it since last year - although I didn't pay terribly much attention to it (or to any of my other roses) since I've had a new baby. So, for what it's worth - the rose is pretty, although not spectacular, with relatively small and sometimes slighty frazzly looking flowers, blooming in clusters. Apricot/caramel color of sorts with lighter vanilla hues toward the margins. It looks a little better in cooler weather when the colors get deeper. But it always provided a nice splash of color in the garden. I think the scent was mildly tea-ish, nothing too exciting. Very good repeat already, health ok even in my no-spray garden, if I remember correctly. All in all, cute, but not amazing. Will take some pics this spring and post. Comments (7)I can comment on Lady of Shallot and Carding Mill! The Lady was new to me this year, and I was impressed. She grew quickly, and got nice and big - and for a first year rose, bloomed a lot. The flowers are very lovely and unique. Mine had no disease issues this year. Carding Mill has been more problematic. The flowers are really stunning, but it never bloomed much for me. I think this was a placement issue (not enough sun), but my overall impression is that it may not be as vigorous. I ended out potting mine up, but by the time I did this it was down to one cane. But the flowers are sufficiently gorgeous that I'm ordering a new one from RU this year to try again. Incidentally, I see you mention St. Elisabeth of Hungary - isn't she pink? (I'm ordering one from Heirloom this year, and they list it as pink)....See MoreBold Tile, Sunlight Filled Kitchen
Comments (85)So very sorry to hear that your dear mom never saw the completion of your kitchen here on this earth but know that she is happily smiling down on you from heaven. I agree with Bee, your mom will wink at you from time to time. I lost my dearest friend, my mother, nine years ago. I miss her dearly but she still sends me a wink from time to time. Your kitchen is absolutely gorgeous. I love your home, it is so very charming. I lam so fond of a one story home especially as I get older. Our main home is two stories and more steps than I care for. Our other home is a one story that I love. Unfortunately hubby has to have garages and has two huge garages at our country home and there is no room for additional garage space in our other house. I will definitely return to this post over and over again for inspiration. I can't imagine a lovelier addition. Best of luck to you and your DH!!!...See Morealameda/zone 8/East Texas
