very nice room. The rug and that chair work, the sofa in the white is meh. (definite no in that gray color). but I think you can do better. I would have gone w/crisper whites and blacks and warmer grays. Maybe that PB rug is nicer in person, but in the photo the color looks really muddy. I like the ones in this pic,,,deep charcoal, whites, grays, touch of light aqua.. and this table For rug, I'd do a coloring like this one, or some of the others in the pics I love your floors and thing you should bring in some wood in your sofa, even if it is on the modern side. Like this: A walnut, style sofa like this, in a navy, charcoal, very light gray,,,would be perfect more blacks/charcoal, crisp whites, some texture, don't know what the plans are for the sides of the fireplace, but here are some ideas

Thank you Flo. I’ve looked at those exact tables. I’m hoping the new tv stand will be here by this weekend so I can start deciding what to do with the tv wall. It obviously will need something else going on over there. I think we tend to like a more traditional style. We know we definitely want to make our house feel as cozy and homey as possible. I do have one piece of artwork for the living room that my husband bought me as a gift. It’s all gray so it won’t add color, but I’m hoping to work it into this room somehow. Here’s a picture of it.

Line the rug up with the middle window and place the front legs of sofa on the rug. Put the two black chairs in the bay with a table and lamp; better yet, a chandelier. use the ottoman for a coffee table, adding a tray on top; this is from Target and you can use it as a tray or a shelf and it matches the wood on the chair arms: buy another ladder book shelf :

Perhaps trying some nice artwork that matches your current color scheme would work on that blank wall. We also might suggest looking at getting a round coffee table, and perhaps an arc lamp to go in the corner. See our designs below for more ideas.
