Pictures are awesome you need to post some of your space . IMO timeless is a vague idea not some specific color. I like dark floors but that is me I need to see the stuff you own that will be going on the floors. Good plan to choose white oak BTW.

Chestnut is one of my favorites. It's a nice nutty brown without tones that often polarize like yellow or red.

Patricia, I don’t have pictures just hoping someone on here has used duraseal and loves how it looks in there house and wants to share. I’m really looking for a medium brown that doesn’t read orange.

Spice Brown and Medium Brown are nice too. Another option would be to take something like Coffee or Jacobean and lighten with neutral.

Make sure any samples you see have the finish applied before evaluation.

I have Provincial on my wood floors and love it! It’s a true medium brown, doesn’t skew orange, yellow or red, but feels warm (doesn’t have any grey quality). Not too dark and not too light.

It partially depends what species of wood you have. Our floors are red oak. Each type of wood looks a bit different, even with the same stain color. Yours being white oak would naturally have a bit less red undertone than my red oak.

The other stain color we seriously considered was Special Walnut, which I found to be the tiniest bit less warm than Provincial. It has a bit of green in its base, which counteracts any red tones in the wood to look more neutral. It doesn’t actually look green.

Regardless of what any of us recommend, definitely test any stain colors you’ve narrowed down to on your actual floors before making a final choice.

Thanks, Pam. I am going to get wood throughout the main leave of my house. The front of my house gets morning sun only. My fear is this color would be to dark. Do you have that problem?

yes, that is exactly what I am finding. It sounds like we have the exact same taste. I have a white kitchen with lots of natural light so dark wouldn't be a problem. A light color in the kitchen will get washed out. So the challenge is finding a good color for the entire house. I am going with white oak so I don't see any red in the color I choose Thanks again for your response.

I forgot to say that my paint color is Benjamin Moore Spa. It’s a light extremely neutral green with lots of grey and beige in the base.
