Hi, Joyce1 many of us got our rosy start in cheap chain store roses! Propagation: please do not propagate any roses that are still under patent, and i suspect many of yours are. If you check out each rose at HelpMeFind there is a place at the bottom of the rose page that will state the patent number if it is still under patent. Leaving the propagating to hybirdizers and licensed propagators ensures that their livelihood is protected and we consumers will continue to have access to quality plant material for years to come. As for your selections, the only one I have actual experience with is New Day. I bought it last summer as a pathetic Home Depot potted rose, and it thanked me by being a beautiful, healthy yellow bloomer all season! Unfortunately it did not survive our brutal winter. I wasn't surpised, but for five bucks, can I really complain??? Blue Girl is reputed to be a dog of a rose; you might be far enough south to make it work. NOTHING repels Jap beetles, sorry. The control measures you listed are really your only viable options if you do not want to poison all the rest of the bugs, good and bad, that visit your roses. I would take your roses back outside, to get some sun and rain. If they have been under cover at Walmart, give them gradual sun rather than a full day right off the bat. Good luck, have fun!

Not sure if you are looking for a "sell for" value or a claim on the tax valuation? And what they would bring also depends on who might be at the sale. In it's present condition, I doubt that the dresser will bring more than $250, in a barn sale. And the mirror is a pier mirror, likely once stood in a frame on the floor and tilted as needed to reflect up or down. Very nice piece, put again only part of the whole. At a barn sale, perhaps $125? Unless your crowd will really be looking to bid the moon for the benefit of the animals, I'm afraid that's all you can expect. Linda C

I think all the furniture feels like it is pushed out to the walls. I would take the bookcase in the LR that is to the right of the couch, and put that on the wall that is behind the couch now. Then you will be able to open up a standing space in front of that, by moving the couch forward into the living room space. Take the console table and lamps from behind the couch and put that on the wall where the bookcase was, with the mirror from over the fireplace above it. The mirror there will help bounce light from the windows into the room, as well as bouncing the light from the lamps. Now, push the couch further forward, so that the front edge of the couch is at least as far forward as the divider between the center and side window of the bow. Turn the rug parallel to the couch, keep the coffeetable. Take the two chairs and use them both with the table between them, but rotate them so that the chair on the right of the pair is where the end table is now, then the end table to the left of that, and the other chair to the left of that - it will be sitting with its back to the bow window. This should create a cohesive grouping of your furniture, fill the wall space behind the couch but allow the couch to logically move forward, and let the table and lamps be seen that are currently behind the couch and invisible. Take the red artwork that was above the console table and use it up on the wall above the mantel instead of the mirror. Move the tall candlesticks from the hearth to the mantel toward the left end, with the taller one to the outside, and then stand the red plate to the right of that, but so a bit of the plate overlaps the middle height candlestick. Take the two hurricane candlesticks and use them on the dining table. I would release the tiebacks on the drapery. They would look more contemporary and cleaner that way - they are really not full enough to tie back and create the nice draping effect you want for that.

First of all...THANKS for the comments!! I definately agree with everyone about the kitchen photos, the cabinets do look horrible and YES, they are wood but they are painted a chocolate brown. The agle is also quite strange as many have pointed out. I have taken several pictures to replace the kitchen, living room and backyard pics to replace the 'dingy' or blurry photos. I have yet to see them replaced, my realtor stated she will get them up this afternoon. The living room does have two big bright windows in it...hard to tell from the picture (new picture would also 'sell' the fireplace more). As for the 'sterility' of the house.....I should have stated that the first offer of our house went bad three days before expected closing! So needless to say, we had moved most, if not all of our belongings out of the house already. We were hesitant to move all of our 'junk' back thinking it might look better with a sort of "less is more" approach. Any ideas as to how to 'cheaply' add a lived-in feel back to the home? As far as the microwave goes, we know its white. We have replaced all of the appliances within six months (including my favorite bosch washer/dryer). We were planning on replacing the microwave when we decided to sell. Realtor says not to replace yet, but we will see... We do have a showing today, someone with a big down payment available (about 40%), so hopefully that goes well. Additionally, the phrase about pre-approval is to keep people serious and to keep theives out! We have had a recent bout of people 'touring' houses pretending to be potential buyers only to later come back and rob the place!! Any ideas as to how to rephrase? maybe 'buyers must have pre-approval letter or certified cash offers only'? Is that legal? Thanks again!!
