My latest project... Daybed???s
Comments (28)You're welcome! For me, it was worth the extra expense to get an authentic looking and quality iron bed. I bought my DS a Wesley Allen bed before I found Charles P and it looks nice, it's a good bed, but it's very lightweight compared to this daybed and my DD2's antique iron bed. Charles P has free shipping right now and I might be mistaken but I don't think I was charged tax, since they're back east. I did wait a few weeks extra b/c I ordered it in a non-standard finish so they made one just for me, but it wasn't a long wait. Another option is Loading Dock Antiques where I bought my DD2's antique iron bed, but they don't usually have many daybeds. You can get a custom finish though if you decide to use a twin. They sandblasted mine to get the old paint off and repainted in a chippy, glazed antique white finish. It's a mom and pop shop (literally), and the wife would call me and send photos during the finishing process. Since it's an antique, it's a few inches wider than a standard twin, but it was easy and inexpensive to order a custom-size bunkie board from a local mattress manufacturer. With the custom finish, it was about the same price as the daybed. I LOVE both beds. Here is a link that might be useful: Loading Dock Antiques Twin Iron Beds...See MoreChaise-esque Daybed?
Comments (26)WithoutanH, That sounds like some of the alpine beds I have seen. I think everyone loves "nooks and crannies". It's part of what new builds usually lack, worshipping at the alter of volume all the time! That is so sweet that there is a crib there now, awww. Voila, I agree, sometimes as a parent, you just have to do those things, even against your better judgment. Just not all the time. Justgota, She is a preteen. I too, remember my first forays as a decorator. And I know how important it can be at this age to assert one's identity... or just being happy that you have found one! KSWL, I did not know that, thanks. Though I acted nonchalant, i was thrilled when she said her "theme" was "writing". As for daybeds, I actually am not a huge fan since I think they are a compromise of sorts. But I totally get that the girls like to pretend it's an apartment, so a daybed can do that for them. We have the same daybeds in the girls' attic bedroom at the beachhouse that you have, KSWL. I think your project was where i first saw them IIRC. Pattycakes, LOL, please, not just yet! So, I did find a slipcovered daybed on PB teen, although it is backordered thru Nov 8. I gave her a choice of about 8 different daybeds (including the ones posted above), and she chose the slipcovered one! Prob because PBteen really knows their demographic, and this looks exactly like a sofa. Hers will go in front of a set of windows that is about 110" wide, and is flanked by brass reading lamps. So now, our whole house is white slipcovered and my cleaning person is going to request an industrial sized w/d! Anyway, this is the daybed: So, yesterday I took up her old rug (pastel braided chenille) and took out the second bed. (She has two white cast iron twin beds). DH mentioned that he could, for now, attached both headboards to one frame and it would look like a chaise. So we did that, and repositioned it where she wants the new daybed to go. It looks great. I told her that she can't get the PB one until she keeps her room clean for a month (I didn't tell her that the real reason she can't get it is that it is on backorder, shhhhh....). She will keep her dresser (simple, white thing by Martha Stewart with the canvas drawers? very cute). We are getting a desk from West Elm and two ghost chairs. Here is a rough diagram. One door goes to her BA, the other is to a little vestibule that the girls' rooms share. Ignore colors. Her walls are off-white and the carpet is camelhair color sisal. All the furniture will be white, and her theme is white, mint and gold, with some aqua (mint and aqua veer pretty close)....See MoreNeed a low-profile, non-kiddie-style daybed
Comments (39)That looks great, Sue! We keep the sheets for those beds in the baskets. A couple of tips... we found that cotton jersey (knitted) sheets fit those French mattresses better than a woven cotton. Also, to keep the mattresses from moving buy one of those waffle type rubber rug pads and cut it to fit the top of the base. It will provide enough grip to keep the mattress in place. That is a darling little table btw!...See MoreCan you help me style a daybed?
Comments (9)A solid color cover for the day bed will be more zoom friendly. Bolsters would likely work better than throw pillows: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Style3-Twin-Size-6PC-Knife-Edge-Outdoor-Daybed-Mattress-Bolster-Pillow-Fitted-Sheet-Cover-Only-AD106/340351294?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=3032&&adid=22222222227402279270&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=489988977568&wl4=aud-393207457166:pla-1111154162814&wl5=9011020&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=113500432&wl11=online&wl12=340351294&veh=sem&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxaaD46Gm9AIVQeKzCh0LYAnDEAkYASABEgJHLPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds https://www.ebay.com/itm/Style3-Twin-Size-6PC-Pipe-Outdoor-Daybed-Matress-Bolster-Pillow-Cover-Only-AD105-/293669729537 Or you could choose individual bolsters.
