I bought a light fixture online that specified a 24 inch diameter. However, when my electrician installed it, it looked smaller than that. It is 17 inches across and 22 inches including the lamp shades. (This is a 5 arm chandelier with 5 inch shades over each bulb, Brand is Walker/Lights UP). I have written to the company but I am hoping there is a way to make this fixture look more proportioned to the size of the table, if this is possible. I am considering having the fixture lowered closer to the table. Right now it is 36 inches from the bottom of the fixture to the table top. Would this help? Please help!

To me the 10 inch high fixture looks small for your space. The fixture is going to hang from the raised portion of your ceiling right? And it needs to be at least 6 ft 6 inches from the floor to the bottom of the fixture. How high is the ceiling where the connection is located? The math is: Width of room (in feet) + length of room (in feet) = diameter/width of chandelier (in inches). If this is where you got the 10 inches in height for the fixture, remember these are not hard and fast rules, just guidelines. You can go larger. That last ideabook I posted for you gives you lots of examples of following the rules and breaking the rules too.

The light fixtures do not necessarily all have to be from the same finish family. That being said, though, I personally prefer the look of this pendant in the bronze finish.
