Help with finding Home Discussion Topics Page

Hello,

I need help with finding the full list of topics on the Houzz discussion forums. I used to access them by going to gardenweb.com and clicking on the home forums. Now that site links only to the gardening forums. I can't find the page that lists all the available discussion topics for the home (i.e. decorating, bathrooms, kitchens, paint, home repairs, etc. etc. I tried to search for this information on the Houzz website and on Google but no luck. On the Houzz site, when I click on "search all discussions" it opens only gardening topics. Any help would be much appreciated.

Similar problem. I can only find "featured discussions" or my "favorites". I put "forums" in the search bar and that got me to at least "featured home discussions" and "featured garden discussions". I don't really want "featured". I want all. It should be simple, but searching gardenweb/houzz has been a nightmare.

Go to any forum and directly to the left of the forum name you will see "Your Topics" and "Edit". Click on "Edit" and you will find the full list.

no, we don't get into trouble, but i worry that it has scared the old ones away, do you guys notice that its just us who are here anymore, don't get me wrong, i love to chat with ya'll and read your posts, even though i may not post anything, i mean, sometimes i may be having a rough day, and that will brighten up my day in a heart beat!! **big smile** but, we'll be able to at the top choose between discussion/conversation, and that's where we can just blab llike Lord knows, we know how!! LOL and on the discussion side is where all the real stuff is happening and EG can have his OT of compost cuz we all hate going to other places when we can get right here!! LOL and no one can do a great one about them vegeis and fruits like you guys/girls!! and carol with her container ones hey! that's OT !! yes, i'm grasping **smiling** i want them back BWAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! ~Medo

Sheesh, did you spell it exactly right? Forums with an 's' at the end? It works for me. Home forums (ths): ths. gardenweb .com /forums/cooking (you need to know the URL name for the forum, like kitchens is "kitchbath" and appliances is "appl".) Garden forums (www): www. gardenweb .com /discussions/harvest (discussions, not forums). ETA: Okay. I found the problem. When I type in the ths URL into the location box of the browser it works, but it changes to www. gardenweb .com /discussions/cooking. They may be changing it over, or something. When there's a link, it's broken and goes to page not found. I think there's an issue with the automatic link maker. ETAAgain: I removed the links but they keep putting them back, so I'm adding spaces to unlink the above.

I discovered the gardenweb side back in the late 90's when I was trying to look up information on shade gardening. in 2002, we were in the late stages of our kitchen remodel and our washing machine died. While researching them, I found the home side of garden web, the appliance forum and the kitchen forum. I kept up with the kitchen forum for a little while (lurking) and I posted a couple of before/ after pics of the kitchen (a small 1957 kitchen). Then began lurking again in 2004 when we bought a house with a very 80's kitchen. Lurked a bit in the bathroom forum (I should have delurked and asked opinions when we did our master bath - made some mistakes - oh well) Posted a little in the kitchen forums in 2007-2008 or so when we remodeled our kitchen - eventually got bored and started lurking in the HD forums instead. I mostly lurk in the background, mostly because I've been doing it so long... but feel like I know all the regulars. While I mostly lurk and "almost posted" a few times, I've gotten a lot of inspiration over the years - not just things but ways of deciding on what to use and do.

In searching a topic, why are only the responses on page 1 available?

Wow! I wasn't expecting such wildly varying results. Foodonastump, I get a page of results with what looks like there are pages and pages listed on the bottom, but when I click on ANY of the pages, I always am still on the first page. When you clicked on page 2 or 10 or whatever, did it actually take you to a different page of totally different postings? Bpath, are you typing in the search area on the top of the page? That's crazy! Lars, I'm on an old Acer Chromebook. I bought a new HP Chromebook earlier this year, and the first time when accessing Houzz through Gardenweb, which is what I always use, that's when Google took over and I lost my name when I tried to log in. I was so upset I never used it again. I'll fire it up later and see if I have the same problem, and I'll also get out my ancient Macbook Pro which I no longer use and see what happens with that as well. Salvona, I never looked at how old the posts were I was getting, I'll check that out, too.

Thats a good tip. Although what a bizarre implementation on their part!!!

I think what is happening is that they have blurred the line between Forum (a/k/a Topics) and Discussions. All that really exists is discussions with keywords. Forums don't really exist anymore. It is all just keyword searches. It would be nice if the search bar had a way to search for text strings OR keywords.

For example if I search for "clematis" (because I know there is a Clematis "forum"), I come up with discussions that have "clematis" in the subject line of all discussions. Only the 4th discussion down shows me the Clematis forum is listed in the list of keywords for that discussion.

I see the problem is they have no way to represent a "forum" in the search results. So that's why they should have a separate way to search for just forums/keywords.
