I was going to suggest a console table also. I've never seen them in bar height (not that they may not exist) but was going to suggest attaching feet at the bottom to raise it a bit. You can get buy them pre-made or just make some. You could even raise it by attaching wheels so it can be moved around a bit. Get locking wheels so it sits still when you want it to. Here are some some 3" wheels sold for furniture but I know you can get them way bigger at the big box hardware stores. Here is a link that might be useful: Locking Wheels

I live on this forum but don't post often. I want to thank TurquoiseRose for sharing her hunt for the perfect console to put in her hallway/ foyer. I've been searching for years for a similar piece to fill a blank space in our family room, restricted by a French door that opens against the wall so not much depth possible. To me there needs to be a purpose for things to make sense. So what is the purpose of that console table being there? Do you need lighting (so you need a lamp on it)? If you don't NEED it to be there, then that's your cue that it doesn't belong there. I really can't see what you would put in a basket right there, so I would not start trying to decorate with just more things that don't make sense. I can't see any purpose that that table would play there, so I would remove it. And instead of those 4 pictures, I would hang one large piece of art.

OK, here is the latest update. My wife and I discussed this at length tonight. Our plans are still definitely open, but we are converging toward the following: We plan to reduce the size of the island, both the length and the width. We will reduce the length by 11" or 12" vs the plans, and the width by about 4" (still discussing both). So, in the plans, this means that the center drawer unit facing the sink is reduced from 30" to about 19 (plus a bit smaller because it is inset). On the bottom side: currently on the bottom right is an open shelf facing to the right. We'd keep that, and mirror it on the left, but put a door on the front, for some shallow (but still useful) storage shelves facing the refrigerator. Between those, in place of the seating (which we would eliminate), we'll have about 47" of space to work with. We'll divide those evenly between two separate cabinet units, each with a drawer on top, and a cabinet with roll-out tray(s) below. The width reduction will come all from the "bottom" side of the island; that means that all of the cabinets discussed above will be 20" deep instead of 24, and the open shelves to the right and closed cabinet to the left will be similarly reduced. All of this means that instead of 77" between the island and the windows to the right, we will have 85". So with a fixed dining bench (with back) against the wall, we will have the option of positioning a 30" wide trestle table, leaving 37" between the table and the island. (That isn't necessarily what we will do, but now we will have the option). And between the island and the brick wall, we will have 56" (rather than 52) meaning that we can put a 14" wide console (vs 10") if we want to have 42" for walking on that side.
