Just incase others have a similar problem - I thought I was getting something similar to this problem. Clothes not drying properly however there seemed to be a lot of steam coming out of the drawer / tray. Turns out the cold water solenoid valve had died (the top left hand of the machine with the 3 blue tabs, just right to the red square part in the picture on the comment above) so water wasn't flowing into the condenser and then the steam wasn't being condensed - you could tell this was the problem since intermittently you should hear a sudden "whoosh" for a second or two every few minutes of the valve opening up and water flowing out. It did appear that less water was coming out the grey pipe on the back of the machine too, but this was because no extra water was coming into the system via the condenser. Anyway bought new cold water solenoid valve for £25, two screws off, 3 pipes on and off and it was fixed. Couldn't find much about this on the web - Just an idea.

You can buy a pan to put beneath the set, and follow the manual's instructions so you don't void the warranty. I don't know what she meant by "prop up" the machine, but definitely get the pan.

We are on the cusp of placing orders for our appliances. So I wandered back by this thread and noticed the new responses. Mikelock, I love your "after" photo. We're about the finalize our layout, and I keep considering going under-counter instead of stacked. It's a lot of fun to see another real life installation. That extra run of counter must be so nice. Chris Park, thanks for your perspective on how the condensing dryer is performing for you. I was scared off initially by the many negative comments about condensing dryers, but I later became more hopeful when I noticed that many comments note that clothes come out with only an initial dampness - if that makes sense. We're finally going to place our order this week, after much heel dragging from me. The plan for a long time has been Blomberg units (the heat pump dryer sounds like a good idea), although in the 11th hour there is some temptation to order Asko units (condensing dryer) that would match the SS appliances. I guess we'll panic and select one soon!

But you need ACCESS to turn off water in event of flooding...the set I just got rid of had bad shocks on washer which we had replaced once...I ordered a new set and was using the old until the washer developed a problem--water kept running even when door was open--- had to turn off at wall to stop water...and just didn't use any more after that... Personally I would like a water/electrical connection on the wall beside the w/d-- so you could get to it and turn it off lot easier than reaching behind the washer/dryer...we go out of town for longer periods of time. I would like to be able to turn off my water to washer w/o having to move the washer out of way.
