I like the broken tile porch too. So you're adding or expanding a walkway from your front door that goes to the driveway. Must you butt it up against the porch, or could you leave a buffer of a foot or two between the walkway and the porch? If you could, then I'd plant liriope as a narrow strip to visually divide the two areas. Then you could use gravel & pavers for the walkway without conflicting with the existing porch.

Also, designers work for you. If you like a certain feature, tell them to work with it, period. That's my opinion, but I'm not a designer...!

emmarene9 has a good idea. The color of the house fights with the warm color of the brick and floor in my opinion.

I am loving your porch floor! The suggestion to use large paving stones set in gravel is a very good idea for a walkway. Pavers need not be gray nor gravel gray. Explore your options. I imagine you can get pavers in a creamy color and surround them with clay colored stones. Edged with landscape edging to keep the stone from migrating into your yard.

Thanks to all for the comments! So you are recommending I use large rectangle pavers instead of square and maybe change the house color. The house color is deceptive in the photo...looks more like the area showing next to the garage...very light and same as grout color in the brick.

For house color recommendations, a larger picture would be helpful. I'd like to see it, just because I like mid-century ranches :-)

A way of tying your brick to your porch would be large modern BLACK planters, pulling the two together. Black accents in the form of larger lights, a bench, etc. will help too.

Love the idea of the black planters - had also thought of navy blue, as the dark brick has a blue cast

to it. The mailbox would look better in the dark color as well. Thank you again.
