DESIGNERS....HELP!

Hello. I am in love with these chairs. They are for living room but I would like them for formal dining room. Would these chairs be okay for a formal dining room? Dimensions are: 27”W x 32 1/4”D x 43 1/2”H and the seat height is 20”. Standard dining table height is 28”-30”, so if I get a 30” height table that leaves 10” clearance between seat and table. Is there anything else I should be considering? PLEASE ADVISE. Thank you!!!

3 years agoYou mentioned earlier that you were doing a cement fireplace, right?, and so I'm wondering if you are keeping the whole face of it gray or planning to have it painted a color, like white? Just wondering as if you are thinking of keeping it gray, would a gray rug be an option to explore?
Such as this 10 x 14 as you can see that it works with white and black. Just don't know if I'm on board with it if you go with those RH brass coffee tables or the emerald bench (if the bench ends up in the LR). Though it would look nice with the RH chandelier.

Should mirror touch back splash? Design help needed
Comments (24)>the mirror will need to not touch the ledge below it. over time, say 5 years or so, water and cleaning agents will seep up behind the mirror and create a black line at the bottom of the mirror. You need enough space to no allow water to wick up behind the mirror. Kind of puzzled by this. Comments (21)Thoughts: - Yes to a small table /chairs on the right side of the kitchen ... but then, you don't really need stools at the island. - I'd also add a cabinet /uppers near the table /against the side of the pantry ... this'll give you an "away space" to keep your coffee pot, cake under a dome, fruit basket, etc. This'll keep your main work space clear. - This is a Pac-Man kitchen. So much cabinetry /island that you'll be moving through aisles constantly. Not ideal ... you need more walking space, more space for the eye to rest, more space that isn't crammed full of cabinetry. When you build in too much cabinetry, it tends to fill up with clutter ... you have more than enough storage, especially with that good-sized pantry. - I like the idea of a triple window on the left side ... but two single windows bringing light in from two sides isn't half bad. If you keep the single windows, allow some space next to them; that is, don't cram in maximum upper cabinets right up to the edge of the windows. - Agree that the corner cooktop is a bad idea, especially since it appears to be a fairly large cooktop. It's a space hog, and a person standing in that spot will cut off traffic. - I like the pantry, but (since it'll stay open most of the time) I'd opt for a pocket door. Do not allow change it to an inswing door, which would cover part of the shelves. - I love pegboard in a pantry, so I'd want shelves down the two sides /pegboard on the back wall. - Where's your trash can? What's the pathway for taking trash outside? - Where's your fire extinguisher? - Where's your microwave (if you plan to have one)? - Do you have storage for glassware next to the refrigerator? - Where's your silverware? - How will you enter this kitchen with groceries? Do you have a straightforward pathway between the car and the kitchen? - How do you tend to serve a typical mid-week evening meal? For example, in my house we all step up to the stove and serve from the pots and pans. Regardless of how you serve, imagine yourself "walking through" a typical mid-week meal. Does your traffic pattern work? Think about picking up a plate, serving yourself, getting a drink, getting your silverware ... then how would you return the "empties" to the kitchen afterward? Do you see a logical pattern that'll keep people from running into one another? - Say you have people over for a meal ... how do you tend to serve? Would you set things out on the island self-serve style, or would you plate food /deliver plates to the table? Either way, look at the plan and imagine yourself "walking through" such a meal. Comments (22)For trees consider serviceberry, eastern redbud, pagoda dogwood, or other smaller trees that are native to your area (planting natives not only increases the likelihood your tree will thrive, it will bring more pollinators to your yard). For the plan, I would focus on a hedge of shrubs to the left of your driveway to satisfy the requirement. I would plant the small tree 4-5 feet off the angled part of your sidewalk on the right. I’m assuming you need access to the backyard on the right, so if you plant any shrubs on that side, maybe have your focus be any screening you want to do from the street or neighbors (so maybe a shrub or two behind the tree to create a little courtyard feel to the area to the right of your front door). There are a fair amount of native perennials that do well in shade or part shade, and those I think should be your focus to the right of your driveway— too many shrubs and it’s just going to have an awkward, overgrown/unusable vibe in a few years. Native perennials for shade that I like (I’m in MN zone 4 so check your own options) include heuchera, Pennsylvania sedge, goatsbeard, wild ginger, wild geranium, wild blue phlox. 3 years agoThough this rug is different, it will give you a visual as far as a gray rug with white sofa's and black accents. The fan though a lighter finish than the RH chandelier gives you a general visual how the chandelier would look on the ceiling. It looks like the bookcase might be brass.

I can have them painted black and upholstered in same fabric I use for the bench. I’m trying to use some things that I have already also. I don’t want to have to refurnish the entire house! LOL
