Fred, and anyone else who knows AV sizes. (S)
Comments (10)LOL Barbara..No actually I don't..Please let me explain. I know the formula hasn't changed, but this whole 1/3rd thing is baffling and new to me. Let's say an AV is 12" across. That would mean it goes in a 4" pot, right? Right. Which is the size most of my standard AV's are in. This is the problem. When I remove an Av from its 4" pot, the roots are so rootbound, when watered it runs right through..Do you understand what I mean? Going up to a 5", if there's such a thing, (according to correct potting procedure) would be too large, right? BTW, the plastic pots AV's are in, (older AV's (4-6+ yrs) are in pots they were purchased in.) have 4" rims but taper down, therefore, the rim is 4" but right below rim to bottom would probably be 3". You know how pots are shaped??? One other thing. With most plants, roots need room to grow. If a plant is extremely rootbound, chances of growth halts. Wouldn't that apply to 'Large' AV's, too? In other words, I'll use Tiger as an example. If Tiger is totally rootbound, would 'she' halt growing if her roots don't have room to grow? The same applies to fertilizer? Comments (16)Not too many names yet...they were really waiting to find out boy or girl to start the search. I think there are 3 that have kinda been 'okayed' by both....Kason Michael, Jackson (Jack) Edward, and Hayden Michael. But it is way early...so I am SURE it will change. Sept 7 is the due date...but all this time I have thought it was Sept 4, so that is what I am going by! LOL Not sure if I will be sewing the nursery or not. Kalie is looking to see what she likes, and we will go from there. But you can BET that I will be doing ALOT of additional sewing once she gets it figured out. =) Linda...you KNOW that "C" word (Iowa State Cyclones) is a bad word in their house! We hit some 2nd hand stores yesterday and I found 2 little IA Hawkeye (Iowa & IA St are BIG rivals!) outfits! I told Kalie I was going to pick up a Cy outfit just for fun...but didn't....See MorePlease help me choose: Palladian Blue vs. Woodlawn Blue or OTHER
Comments (21)I just recently painted my MBR palladian blue and I think it is such a wonderfully serene, cheerful color...I just love it. However, in the pic you posted, the Woodlawn (also a very pretty color) looks like a better match to your tiles...but I am in agreement with the others that it needs to be softened/lightened up a bit so that your gorgeous tiles take center stage. You might have already tried it but SW Rainwashed is also very pretty but it is really similar to palladian so not sure if that would be an option for you. Also, what about BM Quiet Moments??? I like the idea of a soft ethereal blue...not so keen on the idea of gray (it would be way too much gray IMO). Let us know what you decide! If you get more samples mixed up, post pics!!...See MoreBlue and Blue and Blue.
Comments (16)Your neighbor should go to a new insurance company. Insurance companies charge premiums based on the risk--don't know of policies that stipulate that you have to have trees that could fall on your home removed--that would void coverage in many cities and suburban areas. It's not the same as living in the flood plain of a river when you can get federal flood insurance and then the insurance company lets you know you are in a flood plain and won't extend coverage for floods. that being said, the blues are gorgeous. I have Blue Hawaii, Blueberry Muffins, Van Wade Blue, Dorset Blue, Blue-Haired Lady, Joyride and a bunch of others. Most of mine are planted around variegated hostas so I don't have a "blue bed". Yours is very pretty, maybe I should rethink my beds. Of course, members of my household object to my moving plants around like they are furniture. These are the family members who are always involved in the digging up and replanting, lol....See MoreRelated Professionals
