What color of countertops????

We are remodeling our kitchen and have already bought our tile. It looks a lot like slate- all different. I am completely clueless on what color of countertops to go with. I found one I like but afraid it’s too busy with the tile. I am wondering should I go with a solid color like gray. My cabinets are natural knotty pine and we are considering white washing or gray washing them. Please send me any suggestions. I need help.

The knotty pine is a strong pattern, but you mention you might change that.

The slate has a strong pattern.

As a general rule, don't add another strong pattern.

Next to consider is the shade of gray, and if you even want a cool blue- or purple-gray with the warmer, orange-toned slate rather than a creamier off-white.

You're selecting backwards. Start with the items with the least selection (appliance colors) and work you way to wall paint. Now your choices are always expanding. There are way more floor choices than countertop choices.
