Help choosing dining table size and shape, need to finalize this week
Comments (21)Ok I'm convinced to a 60" round, hopefully with drop in leafs for extra seating. I spoke with the table maker today and he's on vaca until Saturday so we'll touch base early next week and finalize plan/start the actual build. After all the recommendations I'm thinking too that I'll only purchase 6 of the chairs and use my existing wooden ones for extras. We aren't big entertainers and would mostly have just another couple to host but this will provide a slightly more cost effective solution for when we do entertain more. @maggieq & @cyn427 @jjam - thanks for the chair info! Yikes about the experience with the Hudson chairs, esp for how pricey they are! I've heard such mixed reviews about the overall quality of RH, either wonderful or awful, but I've been coveting the Martine for so long that I'm cautiously willing to give them a try... And hope at worst I could have them brought to a re-upholsterer for future modification over buying fresh set at that time. Thanks again everyone, this has been Hugely helpful! :-)...See MoreNeed Help Choosing Chairs for Dining Table

You will never match the wood on the chair leg exactly so you just have to pay attention to the style and shade. This is a rustic table so do NOT choose a leg that is formal and polished. Something a bit more rustic and black or gray. There are many to choose from. From there choose a fabric that coordinates with the table surroundings....See MoreNeed help choosing a dining table!
Comments (6)But, a rug under the table also makes for a hard clean. When the space is all yours and not used or shared by anyone else, that might not make much difference to you. However, once you invite in a few neighbors, family and the grand kids to sit at a table, you are going to curse that rug under the table. A square or rectangular table makes better use of space, almost always....See MoreNeed help choosing a dining table size for our new home.
Comments (3)I would do a round table 56” in diameter...would look great. or a 56” x76” rectangle you subtract 30” from both sides of table for room to pull out chairs and maneuver around the space...also from length.. so take the width of your room and subtract 60” and take length if your room and subtract 60” Room width....116-60=56” wide for table width room length....136-60=76” long for table length...See MoreCath Molatoli
