Remodeling kitchen...refrigerator opinions
Comments (2)I noticed on AJ Madison that Blomberg is coming out with a 30" counter depth fridge with ice maker. It's pretty, and I like the freezer layout, but of course it has no reviews, since it's not even available until next month. Runs about $1600 if you catch one of their sales. I'm looking for the same thing, preferably in white, and there just aren't many options. Here is a link that might be useful: Blomberg Fridge...See MoreKitchen remodel - general input and advice appreciated
Comments (20)Hello again. We've been investigating benjsbride's design. We had a builder come in and give us an estimate for removing the big wall. It is load bearing plus it had 3 HVAC lines in it. Since the wall has HVAC and there are no relatively easy ways to relocate the HVAC line we would have a 12"x12" soffit on the ceiling. Something we could live with considering the improvement we could get by removing the wall. The space that benjesbride had designated for the wall oven is also a load bearing wall and that one has water and drain for the upstairs bathrooms. We may forgo making that change and leave the closet as is for the moment. What we have now is show below in the image and also the linked plan. The left wall (when looking at the 2D image) has our builtins remaining that come out to 12" which should then be rather flush with the 12" wall they need to build for the HVAC lines. You can see this space in the linked plan. We end up losing the wall oven so what about placing it in an island? Is this type of thing even done? Overall thoughts on the updated plan? http://kitchenplanner.ikea.com/US/UI/Pages/VPUI.htm?&LoadDesign=74dc074dc94e43cc8a346e583ec064ff&UIContext=SE_Menu&IsSharedDesign=1&Entry=Kitchen...See MoreKitchen Layout Extra Eyes and Opinions Appreciated
Comments (4)Sorry to hear about the flood but the silver lining is a new kitchen. I would swap the fridge and wall ovens and move the island sink to the corner closer to the other sink and dishwasher. I don't like having the fridge directly across a sink or prep area. You can't access the fridge if someone is at the sink or if you're at the sink, the fridge doors bump against your back....See MoreHelp appreciated on kitchen remodel!
Comments (3)It is a duplicate thread. But since you didn’t like the honest advice you received in your earlier post, I will add my honest thoughts. The maple corner cabinet looks unplanned, a mistake in ordering or an attempt to “make do” with salvaged cabinets. It looks like you ran out of money to paint the one cabinet. The style doesn’t match or compliment the glass fronted cabinets. Before you get angry with me, know I have mixed finishes in my kitchen, but tiger maple over tiger maple, cherry over cherry, painted over painted. But yours stops the eye in a bad way. It looks like a $10 chrome yellow plastic necklace with a $4000 designer evening gown. I love the tile, but not for your style kitchen. I had discovered a blue handmade tile that I still dream about. But, it was out of place in my kitchen so I picked a backsplash that complimented the cabinets. If you listen closely, your kitchen will tell you what IT wants....See MoreMelinda
