Garage windows - Faux wood or real wood in Atlanta?

I am purchasing new 2" wood blinds for my home and have two front windows on the garage. I was told that the faux wood and real wood color difference could/would be noticeable and going with real wood in the garage would be fine. Would real wood hold up okay in a garage?

From behind the window...better be a really big different to be able to notice. How old are the windows? If they have Low-e in them, the differences will become even harder to discern.

Thank you for your response!

The windows are 24-yrs old and not Low-e. I'm going with white blinds, and the shades can be kind of tricky in different light. I could do all the same color by special order, but I'd prefer not to spend the extra money for two blinds that are in the garage.

Thanks, Renovator. I edited that post to indicate that it's a duplicate. I've read everything on GW about Fatezzi, and am just hoping to find someone who might be able to help educate me on the differences/pros&cons of the 2 specific options I'm considering Fatezzi polymer versus Rhapsody composite). I've researched them, but I'm hoping some fellow GWers might have some add'l tips, experience, gems that they learned while comparing these two types of doors. Thanks again.

Real wood doors when properly maintained will last for many years. If the door faces a strong sun, do not use a dark color stain or your real wood door or it will not last as long. Dark wood retains a lot of heat and is an enemy of natural wood. Some manufacturers will void the warranty if a dark color paint or stain is used. Composite faux wood garage doors like those offered by Clopay (www.clopay.com) and Ranch House Doors , are better products with high exposure to sun or in environments with high humidity. They can also handle dark colors. By the way, the Clopay and Ranch House Doors Elements Collection faux wood doors are not made of plastic. Plastic composite material like the material used in composite decking is heavy and not suitable for garage doors. Faux wood garage door prices varies so be sure to get price quotes from both companies.

Cheap doors aren't going to look good. IMHO, the only doors that really look good are custom made at considerable expense. That's why I hate the trend of sticking the garage out in front of an otherwise good-looking home. We pushed our garage back as far as we could to minimize it's appearance. I would like to some day build my own custom carriage doors, but it's low on my priority list. Wood doors can be made with insulation, and I'm sure they could be engineered to FL wind standards, but they would probably cost as much as the car behind them!

Interesting- I also would have assumed a bigger price difference. We had faux wood (Lowe's brand and Home Depot brand so these were not the high end ones) in our previous home for well over 10 years and they were totally fine. I think another reason I preferred them other than the cost, was that they were lighter weight so raising them was less of an issue. (though we rarely raised or lowered them. we mostly used the tilt )

How much sun do the garage windows get? A friend did faux wood blinds in her garage non Low-e windows in Memphis. They got a lot of sun and the blinds bowed because they heated up. Not sure of the material you will be using for faux blinds, but make sure the warmth of the sun in an uncooled space doesn't affect them. I agree with @Windows on Washington Ltd, someone would likely have to have their face against your window to discern a difference and if that's the case you've got bigger problems than mismatched colors. :-)

We get morning/afternoon sun - good point on the possibility of the faux wood bowing. That would be a bigger problem than a color match, for sure. I think I'm just going with the real wood and avoid both issues.
