White Oak - which Bona sealer did you use (Natural, Classic, Intense)?

For my white oak floors - thinking of using Bona Natural Sealer or Classic or Intense. (followed by Traffic HD). Would love to hear from anyone who has sampled these Sealers and what they thought. Photos would be helpful. I did call Bona and they assured me that none of the 3 sealers would add "yellow" or "amber" to my floors - but thought I'd also ask here. Thank you. MaryJane

My white oak floors have 1 coat of Bona Natural Seal and 2 coats of Bona

Traffic HD satin.

Carly, please provide source for your floors, exactly what I’m looking for. Also thank you for post and thank you too other posters. I had just had floors done by a floor shop, two years of hospice requires me to redo them, seems a layer can be scraped up with a spackle scraper easily and turned dark ( like cherry wood does in sunlight but this was white oak ). So due to budget going to have to give this a go on my own. These posts priceless. After seeing this post and refinishing parents floor, I want your oak in my house … you did fantastic job.

Can anyone speak to whether or not you can (or even should) just do three layers of the bona HD finish on raw maple or if that impacts the integrity of the floor and you need to use a seal (irrespective of stain) because it’s maple and doesn’t really take stain anyways. I’m just asking more as a matter of durability and function - does the raw wood require the seal for protection in addition to the finish???

We didn't move in yet so I cannot comment on it 🤷. You might want to do some reading regarding matt finish. Some people complain that is hard to live with finish, because for example foot marks while walking barefoot. I think they are some discussions on houzz regarding that

Thank you for asking. Unfortunately, we have put our kitchen reno on hold. We were advised to wait until the economy rebounds. But, my husband and I are closer in agreement. We have decided to go with a mix of white and light wood for the cabinets. I have found some great inspirational pictures. I still love the white oak but maybe with less wood cabinets maple will be ok. I checked Durasupreme and they have white oak but not in the shade we like. Also, Durasupreme got less than good reviews online. Plato has the white oak shade we like - nude cream - but the estimate came in really high. I still hope to get my dream kitchen.

If, you want a raw pale look. Use natural seal. The other two will give you more color. A hint of tan.

As G & S states, the sealers will not AMBER over time (as in get DARKER) but the IntenseSeal and the ClassicSeal will offer SOME tan/yellow. They just don't get any DARKER over time. I'm going to guess that's what the rep was trying to explain...

Of course your refinsher will apply a sample of EACH sealer on your freshly sanded floors so that you can DECIDE on the one you like (and will include a coat of the HD finish in the gloss level you have chosen....so that you can be 100% SURE of what you are choosing). Right? Ahem...Right???

trump2 would love to see the final product and what you chose, if your floors are finished. We are deciding between Classic and Intense seal on our white oak floors as well! :)

We did one coat of Bona natural seal and two coats of Bona HD extra matte on white oak. Part of me wishes we went satin finish bc I realized I do like a little sheen on a floor (just washed look). The matte helps scratches blend. But I miss a slightly shiny floor. Matte looks a bit dull. Someone posted on here that if you like a just washed look reconsider using matte.

I do love the natural color. I’m glad we didn’t go darker.

I have lived in my new house for 15 months and I love the look of my floors - they are easy to decorate with and give the home a warm but "cool" look at the same time. However, I think the maintenance is much harder than what I previously had - natural red oak with a higher sheen. My new white oak floors have 1 coat of Bona Natural Seal and 2 coats of Bona Traffic HD satin. I adore the light color, but every little water spot shows, or a splash of spilled coffee. They are very unforgiving and I can't imagine these floors in a house with kids and a dog. And I do find myself wishing I had done 3 coats of Bona Traffic HD - just to give them more protection.

Yes, Trump2 I agree. I wish we did three coats of the Traffic HD as he have a ton of traffic (three kids and a dog!) and I wish we had another layer of protection.

60 yr old red oak floors refinished. Bottom is Bona 1 coat intense seal+3 coats bona hd semi gloss. Top is 3 coats Fabulon (oil based) semi gloss. Completed within one month of each other.

Tried bona classic seal under the refrigerator to test outcome and was a little too light whereas we have water stains and they showed too much so chose the next step up, a little darker of intense seal.
We have 5 dogs that tear up the house and have not noticed any scratching or negative wear so far that we were concerned about using water base.

can you give more details about the water spots? Do you mean that it leaves a stain?
