Quartz seam issue

We had kiva white quartz installed a few weeks ago. Right off the bat we weren’t thrilled with the seam placement (they did not explicitly tell us it would be the middle of sink), but that issue aside there seemed to be a problem with the seam near the faucet. It looks like a chip to me and it’s super obvious because of the location of it. They replaced some of the epoxy and tried to doctor it up but it still looks wide and irregular. The stone shop says everything was done to industry standards and that it’s normal for quartz to have that. Does anyone with experience know if this is normal?

Idk, but that’s the best place for the seam. It’s only a couple of inches instead of a couple of feet.

If a seam is necessary, most seams are placed in the sink. It avoids a 25 inch seam and only makes the seam a few inches. That being said, the seam under the faucet looks bad.

Sorry, Melissa, I can't make any sense out of what you're describing. Perhaps you could draw something, take a picture of the drawing and post it? The more rounded the edge, the less likely the chipping.

Fabricator here. Wouldn't be happy with this AT all. I would request for the owner of the company to personally make an appointment to view this job and see if it's up to "the company standard." My guess is it will not be once they're confronted. Like someone above said, Cambria is very choosy with their fabricators. We recently had a job where a customer wasn't pleased with the material, and Cambria personally sent a rep along with our install team to figure out the problem until the client was satisfied. Keep pushing until they get it right. The seams can be made MUCH tighter and lighter than that. It's sloppy work and you deserve much better, especially considering how pricey this material is. Honestly between all of the issues you've described, I would be expecting a redo on the fabricator's part.

Your layout is determined by the size of the quartz slabs and how many are being used. Can you provide that information?

Silestone Quartz installed with 2 different colored slabs at seams!

I had my galley style kitchen renovated a few years ago and chose Silestone quartz, color: soapstone. Both sides of my kitchen have seamless Silestone counters. My experienced kitchen designer only used certain experienced Silestone fabricators too. Both my counters match beautifully, no issues. I think It is the responsibility of the counter fabricators to make sure all counter slabs will match, prior to cutting them.

That's not too bad a seam, but they really missed your sink placement. Your front rail should be as wide as the rear and the rear as wide as the front. Rookies. Good luck cleaning behind that faucet.

I'd replace the sink with an apron front which would replace the faucet seam with two inconspicuous seams at each end of the sink and eliminate the front seam. That fat front rail would become the rear. 4th post down.
