Hello, what budget vanity do you think will best pair with my tile

Good morning from Texas houzz community! My general area is being built up and property values are in an upward trend, so me and the wife are doing some updates to take our home out of the 80's for resale (sadly we have contrasting taste, picking a tile was a creative nightmare). To the bottom line, this is the tile we are renovating the house with: https://www.flooranddecor.com/ceramic-tile/tavern-gris-wood-plank-ceramic-tile-100490119.html. I would like to hear some input from everyone. This counter area length is 72'' but we are thinking of knocking the useless bathroom closet to the right side and replacing it with a free stand linen closet to make better use of the compact space. Her is a photo for an idea of what our space currently looks like.

Okay IMO ceramic is never a good choice for flooring and that flooring is not to most peoples taste not to mention tile floor that looks like wood is already a dated idea. How much money are wanting to spend on this project. Right now I see a bathroom that needs a huge cleaning and I really dislike toilet rooms always . A floor plan to scale is always needed for these kind of questions so do that on graph paper so we can see excatly what you are dealing with. Some idea of the rest of the house too

When we were selling our last home a highly recommended contractor came to see our master en-suite re our update ideas and although he talked himself out of a big job, recommended we paint the vanity, change the counter and faucet. He said the next owners would most likely be gutting and he was right. We painted walls as well, added a rug, new shower curtain, hardware and lighting. If I were you, I’d only do these cosmetic changes. If you have not bought the flooring, I‘d skip redoing; it’s style that may not appeal to many so will not add any value and it will save you money and work

Piegirl: If you would like me to use the fireplace tiles in the shower, I'll send you the bill!! ;-) Thanks all for the feedback. It was sort of like I expected- mixed. I'm just not sure of what I am going to do. Obviously I'm not 100 % sold of this style or I wouldn't have sought feedback, but I do have to reign in the budget somewhere. Perhaps if this is acceptable in the long run, I can make it work and it will save me some money over the more expensive options. I guess I should have told you a little more about the overall look of the bathroom. I'll try to refrain from using the overused cliche, "spa-like" and just say I'm looking for a relaxing natural area. We think we are going to use the MTI caribe and fill the overfill area with river rocks (about the size of lemons.) The tub will stick out into the room and will be surrounded with tile and wood trim. There will be a tile feature wall behind it complete with an alcove which will house a slate and copper fountain. If I truly could afford it I would make this wall a stone wall, but I'm 95% sure it will have to be tile. The shower will be completely enclosed except for the door. For the sinks and vanity we are once again undecided, maybe concrete, many a slab stone or maybe just tile. Dark cabinetry in a mission style, french doors leading to hot tub and deck/patio. Windows all douglas fir stained in a medium brown. And keeping our fingers crossed here....(and I know some of you will be repulsed)...wallpaper in a green and tan foilage print. If everything goes as planned I'll use William Morris' Willow Boughs which I'm pretty excited about. Well that's about it. Any more comments?

Ok, a more serious response from me. I think anything that is more rare or more specialized means that yes, the potential for problem is greater. Some examples: that amazing fancy huge geode slice that you're using for a counter is something that your average fabricator is unfamiliar with (and it's something that even the $$$ specialized fabricator sees infrequently), your highend high BTU range requires a different gas set up and a dedicated outlet (despite the fact that the only electrical parts are the light and fan) and your GC has installed a zillion ranges, doesn't need to know this info, disregards the instructions and the gas line is in the wrong place; your european faucet renders your home warranty guarantee on water pressure void because it uses non-standard fittings, etc. Most of these have actually happened to me (no, I don't have a geode countertop!) so I do think that the non-run of the mill items that we choose (which can tend to be expensive and rare) can cause more headaches. People just tend to have less experience with these materials and sometimes these rarer and more expensive items are such because of their difficulty to install, come by, etc. I think ways to counteract these possible pitfalls are to be as knowledgeable as possible by reading and researching, to be on top of your contractors and choose them based on their reputation checking references and using yelp, angie's list, etc. (esp. if acting as your own GC), to communicate that you want to be involved in decision making, to make sure you understand your contracts and to have money set aside for when such issues arise. (And maybe also realize that there will be compromises, that your favorite item might be discontinued, that people are human and make mistakes and that your newly sprouted gray hairs make you look more distinguished!) You changed the photo at 10:13 and that changed everything that follows. Be careful or you and we aren't going to be able to keep things straight. My favorite is still the one Mayflowers posted because it has such a lovely color. The green will compliment the red in the cabinets while accentuating the softer tones in your floor. It has movement without being busy or loud. Stunning. The soapstone and costa esmeralda would do well too, but they are darker and you have clearly not entertained that idea. I'm going to try to ignore this thread now. I've said all I can say. Thank you kksmama for finding something to remember in it. It isn't original. I think any good designer, the pros and the experienced amateurs here, will all tell you the same thing. I'm sure I've read it all here before. And now I'm going to vent a little and try not to lose the playing nice factor altogether. My frustration here is that I don't feel the OP is paying attention. Maybe they just don't get it and I can't explain it any better. The suggestion to get a pro involved and looking at these in person has been made more than once. I think its time to heed that advise. It takes time and effort for us to open up multiple screens and look at them and then comment on them thoughtfully. When the comments appear to be ignored, or at least not beneficial, and followed only by another set of photos that show we aren't making any progress in the process, I have to stop. Hi all, thanks for feedback. As far as bringing tiles home, trying at home, the whole thing is under construction. There are no frames yet, but we need to decide quickly and put an order in. I did not know about issue with water stains on granite. They are permanent stains? Is it like etching marks we get on Marble, but not from water? How bad is it? On marble there are spots from water, but not permanent, while on my marble floor we have etch marks (white) probably from liquids that were dropped. It's possible the housekeeper didn't use the natural product I have given her to us. Thanks

If you are selling, you should be just sprucing up so that things look clean and uncluttered, but not “knocking out closets“, and definitely not ”renovating the house” with new floors. First, changing out floors is a big stressful job. Second, lifting an old floor can open a can of worms that could really mess you up. Third, the floor you pick will not match what buyers might like - it’s best to price the home with the current floors in mind, and let the new owners install the floor they want. Fourth—and most important—you will not recoup in the sale price what you spent on “renovating the house”.

Here is a screenshot of the floors you linked. That gray stripey look is dated several years already. One reason it got dated so fast is that it is very difficult to match wall paint, upholstery, counter, and cabinet finishes to it, nearly impossible. Don‘t install this. Just leave your floors as is and price your home accordingly.
