Need help choosing light gray color to go with reddish orange floors!
Comments (51)I bought 5 samples today, one of them was a white for trim so just 4 for the walls. After considering what I already have, I decided to pick ones that had different undertones. As an example, I didn't get Horizon, b/c it's so close to Paper White, and i have that color in two rooms in my current house. It's pretty, but it definitely reads blue. I think this is partly due to my trim being Snowfall White, which is very close to Simply White. I think with a truer white it might appear a little more gray, although still cool. I ended up with Intense White, which is actually what I had wanted to use in one room instead of the Paper White. Also got Shoreline 1471, which reads a little more gray than Horizon, although I feel like the purple will come out I wanted to make sure. Also got Classic Gray ElleN, I'm going to give it one more shot. And Swiss Coffee, b/c my sample is so old for that one. I feel like with what I have and the new, I should definitely be able to come up with something. I buy these small flat canvases at Walmart in a 3 pack and they work amazing for paint samples. I have found that even foam board can curl pretty easily, and I'm not a fan of painting directly on the wall anymore, have screwed that up too many times. ElleN I agree Halo is very green, so I don't think it will do me any favors. And Gray Mist is not a very fun color, but I can't believe it looked so yellow on your walls. I think you're right, they might have mixed something wrong. Here's a couple of pics of our old kitchen with it. It was a great neutral with the floors, cabinets and countertops....See MoreCORETec flooring is gapping. Need help trying to fix it. DIY?
Comments (11)Installed Coretec for a customer, it was the first and last time I will work with this product. the locking mechanism was in adequate and difficult to work with, unlike laminate I have worked with in the past which snapped together and was difficult to separate Coretec did not clearly make that connection. Even when joints were visibly tight the material was still not well connected. Flooring America, who sold the material to my customer told me as the installer that we could go over tile with no prep or underlayment, that we didn't need acclimate to the material and said it should be easy to install. I read the instructions and watched the manufacturers instructional video and followed the procedures per those instructions. 4 months after installation gaps started showing up. Contacted Flooring America and the manufacturer. They proceeded to blame it first on humidity issues (after telling us no acclimation was needed) and then came back out and blamed it on out of level floors. we installed 3/4" plywood over the existing subfloor to flush up with the tile they said we could go over (which we did a floor prep to fill all the grout joints and low spots). I can't think of a 30 year old house that isn't going to be 3/16" out of level in 10 feet, but that doesn't mean the floor isn't flat. Needless to say, after following all the advice and instructions of the "experts" the manufacturer pushed the problems onto the installer. I would not recommend any material that can't be installed over common anomalies in the average house....See Moreredoing entryway...need help choosing floor, paint, and stain colors
Comments (1)Are you in an area where snow might be tracked in? If so, consider luxury vinyl plank flooring stead of laminate. Laminate will warp and buckle if drips aren’t wiped up quickly....See MoreI need help with choosing a laminate floor color that won’t clash.
Comments (13)If you go with wood look I would lean towards a medium to darker floor... A tone similar to the dark knots in the wall..... It could look really nice, just have to be more careful when pairing a fake wood floor up against a real wood.... It can be done, just take your time and maybe take an extra wall board with good color variation to help you select a right match. The colors in this floor are nice as it gives you more options with a blend of medium and darker tones......See MoreVen O
