While that's a better picture than some I see in this forum, I still can't tell enough for an ID of any certainty. Pictures showing leaf arrangement and venation might help. You can post a much better picture using photobucket or one of the other picture posting sites along with the proper html code here (or better yet, in the Shrubs Discussion Forum, where there is much much more traffic).

Spirea don't produce anything in a cross shape. Looks like the kind of planting and pruning one might see outside of apartments, condos or at a mall. In the Seattle area about half of residential properties are occupied by renters who probably don't know anything about most or all of the plantings, so going to the door here often fails to yield plant names. And there is always something else people are doing at the time that you are interrupting. So I usually limit approaching occupants of places with plants of interest to when these people are seen out working in the yard, or otherwise suitably disposed.

Brooke, Here's how to add your location info to your profile so that it posts automatically next to your name, including a zone look-up. That way you won't have to remember to give location info each time you post. That is what appears in parenthesis after my username. Go to Your Houzz in the upper right of every page, click Edit Profile, and then on the left side of the profile page click advanced settings. Well down the advanced settings page is a blank labeled Climate Zone for Garden Forums along with a green link to find your zone. If you add info on your state or the nearest large city you will get even better information since zone only relates to average coldest winter temperatures. Then return to the top of the page and click Done Editing.
