Lycoris radiata in 6a, what will happen?

Planted some Lycoris radiata bulbs, Ohio, rather harsh zone 6a and they are borderline hardy, at least planted at ground level like you are supposed to do so they will have the weird bloom. Should I cover with a couple inches of mulch for the Winter, then uncover in Spring?

The bulbs have a little sprout, what will happen now since planted? Would they normally have full green growth by October, then the green leaves are supposed to last until Spring? When will these new plantings grow leaves? In the cool Autumn with frosts? Or wait until Spring to grow again? Hard to find pictures of what the green leaves look like and does in the North.
