Awkward Front Entrance HELP!!!
Comments (6)Let us be clear on something. Your “front” door is the double french door? I would find that confusing. I would probably replace it with a single door with sidelights and paint it a color that says “front door,” while minimizing the pantry door. I would also remove all the railing on the pergola. It isn’t necessary. And....rather than having guests enter from the end of the pergola, I would create a new sidewalk around the patio area, allowing planting beds along the way, and directing people to the end of the pergola where the true entrance is to your home....See MoreMaster bedroom entry help???
Comments (15)Have you verified if you can move the toilet all the way to the back far corner of house? Typically, the depth of the sanitary tie-in that the toilet has to meet up somewhere will determine how far away the toilet can be from that tie-in. And looking at the beam I mentioned earlier, a truss girder may be able to happen, but not sure about whether you would have to remove the existing portico roof (and whether its vaulted or not) and reframe the whole thing from trusses. Just something to mention to the architect to verify as that could potentially be a thorn in your side later....See MoreEntryway Help! Rug Ideas!
Comments (9)There is a little contrast between the formality of the floor, which is lovely, and the hooks, etc. which are maybe a bit more rustic. If you are comfortable, I'd lose the curtain. What are all the doors? Maybe start with just painting the front door navy and then see? Although I'm a little tired of gray, I think it would be better here than a cream? Maybe a very subtle white/gray? Ruggable has such nice choices, check them out....See MoreDark entryway help
Comments (17)Yes to a full length runner. Place the mirror and table in the nook where the bench and hooks now live. The mirror will then reflect light coming in from the window next to the door and light from the adjacent room. If nobody is using the bench anyway, then I would remove it altogether and remove the plants too. What age are you kids? If in a year or two they can use the hall without running into the pictures, I would leave those up and add in a bottom row then. You do not need something on both sides of this hallway. It is fine to leave the left hand walls blank....See MoreMae P
