Latest Kitchen design, feedback appreciated
Comments (10)Sorry this is a horribly rudimentary paint edit of the drawing, but the layout isn't changed too much. I labeled the rooms. Currently the sideboard is diagonal, with an odd triangular closet behind it, and doesn't hide the bathroom at all (doesn't come out as far as my edit). The current slide-in range is where the range hood and cooktop will go. Not much else is changing except the current front counter is a counter with also a barstool height and we will make it one height. It will also be shorter because of the now perpendicular sideboard to the back wall. I'm sure that's why it was angled before, but it's awkward. As you can see there is not much wall space to work with, lots of door frames. The triangle is a fireplace in the great room....See MoreKitchen design feedback requested
Comments (5)Very nice layout--if not for the narrower-than-minimum recommended aisles. Maybe since it's just two of you they will work, depending on your cooking style. I don't mind having the sink and cooktop in line, as you will be spending more time prepping to the left of the sink, than rinsing items in front of it. If you want to ease the aisles around the island, you might consider a corner sink. I know a corner sink wastes space, but I think they are nice with corner windows as you have them. Is that the location of the existing sink? You would need to add another stub wall to match the one beside the pantry, in order to accommodate the DW. I made it full-height, with space for dish storage in an upper cabinet, but it could be a pony wall or just a mini-peninsula, which would also be convenient for serving to the dining table. That would put the fridge and sink a step over the NKBA max distance of 9' apart. The minimum depth for the island should be barely over 40", IMO--24" cabs, 15" seating overhang, cabinet skin for back cover, and 1" front overhang....See MoreLooking for kitchen design feedback
Comments (5)Second on moving your dishwasher. The lack of alignment of the bottom cabinets with the upper cabinets, window, or anything is bothering me. In order to alleviate this issue, I would try to, at minimum, center the kitchen faucet with the left side of the window. Of course, this will only make sense if you have a single bowl sink planned. I think doing this will trick the eye into some semblance of balance/symmetry. Are you planning on a single bowl or double? I would also have the cabinet to the right of the stove open toward the stove, not away from. If you don't move the dishwasher, here are some design pointers to consider:...See Morekitchen designers, feedback please. new build kitchen layout
Comments (38)Mama goose, I like many of the ideas for the upper cabinets. Thank you. I have gone back and forth on one island or two, but having the eat in bar separate from the work-island is a huge plus for how involved the kids are with cooking and prep. Not a huge fan of having the dining table out in the middle. I don’t think the distance from dining area to clean up station will be a problem. As for bedrooms, the plan doesn’t reflect all details. We do plan for the secondary bedrooms to be shared for two kids each. We have future expansion in mind with the stairs to upstairs for additional two bedrooms. Currently, the kids are younger and prefer for them to be downstairs. Thx everyone for feedback and ideas. Enjoy the holiday weekend....See Moremama goose_gw zn6OH
