Backsplash to warm up white-ish cabs & granite
Comments (48)omg -- I am so embarrassed. I can't believe it's been almost three years. I know it's ridiculous, veevs, but I still have not put in a backsplash! I collected so many sample tiles (all of which are still sitting on my laundry room counter), and then I just got overwhelmed! And then tired. And then bored. And then we moved on to other major house projects (front entry, portico, landscaping, etc.) and other decorating (window treatments, etc.). And then I just became very zen about the whole thing and decided not to stress about it, to enjoy the paint for now, and to just pick out other kitchen things first (eg, got the bamboo shades budge suggested). In fact, it's funny that you're reviving this thread now, as I await delivery of the chandelier that I finally chose for over the island. I'm hoping that getting that up next week will provide a sudden epiphany re the backsplash. I hope to return to that project this fall/winter. Of course, I'm still happy to hear suggestions and welcome any photos! Sorry the thread was such a tease...but there will be a happy ending one day! In the meantime ... enjoy your kitchen and the many delicious meals you will share with your family ... and tell them all just to be zen :)...See MorePlease help with tile back splash recommendations
Comments (55)It looks great! Thanks for sharing your finished back splash. It's always nice to see everything come together. How are you liking your counter-tops? I am considering those for my own kitchen. They look wonderful in your photos....See Morebacksplash help that's not subway tiles for Caesarstone London Grey
Comments (20)Go to Saltillo Imports for tile. South of Yorkdale on Tycos Drive in the design district. So many tiles, so many ideas and lots of items on display. Many of the HGTV designers use this store for their tile. Have a look at their site - worth a visit, even if you think you've found what you want. Olympia is nearby as well - almost overwhelming choices there. The tile you've chosen above...I don't know...for some reason I think bathroom when I see it but maybe I need to see it done and grouted. As is so often the case, it all comes together in the end, but we spend a great deal of time second guessing our choices when in the midst of the project....See MoreHelp with granite backsplash and maple cabs, please!
Comments (57)Thanks April! We will have to remove the mantel and corbels (brings a set of issues w/ patching where corbels were, drilling for electricity, etc...), but want to mount TV on fireplace, as my boys like watching the TV from island. They eat at the island often. Also, there would be a glare on the perpendicular wall from the windows. It's not bad on the hearth! But, I'd also like to cover as much of the fireplace as possible! I get your point about the books on shelves, adding items to tie everything in. I feel like if the island were white, it would help tie some other elements, pantry door, white trim and white blinds. It may make it easier with the granite choice also. If I stay with current granite, or change. I think it would help to lighten up kitchen overall and break up the woods. I like the darker island idea, but think it may not work as well in my kitchen....See MoreRelated Professionals
