I like the drum style chandelier, as long as it has a diffuser at the bottom. if the ceiling is at all low, you can do a flush mount, like this (from west elm):

the black metal fixture suggested above-- very cool looking, but note that style completely changes how the light behaves. the opaque shade directs all the light down and it would be really concentrated on the bed, while the ceiling stays dark. it's a more high contrast look. (think lighting in moody bars or coffee shops, where it's dark overall and there's a low lamp above each table.)

on the other hand, light fixtures with transparent shades will bounce light all across the ceiling. it's a more diffused look.

there's nothing wrong with one or the other, you just need to decide what you will like more.

The current fixture drops 30” and is about 21” wide. With 9’ ceilings we have options but will be centered on a queen sleigh bed. I do t have it staged yet so I can’t take pictures. Probably something transitional would be good, so a potential buyer could imagine their furniture. Most of the lighting is original - so 1920’s.
