Comments (8)Salony, I have no idea what my granite is. We bought this house in July of 07 and the granite was with the house. I love my granite. I first sanded the cabinets and then rolled on (where I could roll) and brushed on (where the roller could not go) the primer. I used Zinser shelac based 123 primer, this was recommended by my paint guy. I then sanded again. I did not do a 2nd coat of primer, my paint guy told me that I did not need to. I then rolled and brushed on one coat of oil based paint, sanded again and then rolled/brushed on second coat of paint. I think that I might do a 3rd coat of paint, haven't decided yet. I will look at how the 2nd coat looks on the front of the cabinets. I used a 4 inch (I think) foam roller and bought a paint brush that my paint guy recommended. I think the brush was made of ox hair. It is a lot of work but I love how they are turning out. I really hated the pickled look....See MoreEspresso colored kitchen cabinets with Uba Tuba granite
Comments (21)sorry to say i am not a fan of any of those granites, but if i had to pick one, i would pick the one without any red specks or red/pink/peach/gray undertones. i would get the one that read "earthy" the most...browns, creams, gold and some black, but not gray. i would do everything i could to go and pick out my own slab b/c i wouldn't want to be disappointed when it came to be installed. you are going to have a pre-conceived notion of what its going to look like and if it doesn't, you are not going to be happy. i know that's how i would feel. maybe if you don't need a full slab, you can use a remnant and it might fall into your budget..try anything to pick it out yourself, you will be much happier.. HTH :)...See MoreKitchen Granite: Which Cabinet Color
Comments (5)Thank you everyone! I do think white will be the best bet for the cabinets. We will try out some swatches of creamy (maybe Swiss Coffee), White Dove, and maybe even Chantilly Lace for something brighter white than the walls. And @Beverly, we really like the second image and it is pretty much what we'd like to go for (maybe no shiplap for us). We aren't replacing the appliances so that is a good point that we don't want them to "yellow" the cabinets. I may make some cardstock with Swiss Coffee, White Dove, Chantilly Lace and post here. Does everyone agree on Semi-gloss for Cabinets? Or is Satin more typical?...See MoreMonique Barrow
