living room design for narrow room
Here is a scale of the room. I would like to have an area coming in the entry door designated as foyer. I’m at lost with this room. The original picture shows the fireplace with tv mounted above but can remove and place elsewhere since we moved and added the front door. Any suggestions with pics would be appreciated
Need help with living room furniture placement. I’m in the process of remolding older home and the living room is long and narrow. The room measures 12’4”x24’ with front door Entering on one end. I have posted pics of the room and need help I’m at a lost. I will be redoing the fireplace and can move to any wall. Any ideas appreciate

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoReduce the TV "stand" to a much lower profile credenza that is at least 25% wider than the set itself. It is right in the traffic path from the front door now. Put it on the larger wall and put the fireplace between the two windows at the end.

Comments (2)You might try some apartment sized furniture or smaller furniture than you currently have. First off, you might look at getting rid of the cabinet you have the TV in and replace it with a wall mounted TV on an artciulating arm and a small console underneath. That will get rid of some of the bulk. If you can draw a detailed plan with measurements of the space we could help a lot more. 4 years agoIf you have another room that would work better for living room, you could consider using front room as dining room and dine by fireplace.

the 36” opening is the front door and directly across is case opening into hall that is 461/2”. The other opening is 31” that goes into the kitchen. All the other are windows. Hope this helps and isn’t confusing

If you are going to use this room as a living room, I agree that you are better off without the fireplace unit in the room. If you have a dining room or other available room in the house, consider moving the unit there. And I would put a sofa on the one available wall, I.e. the long, window-free wall. And put tv on a long, low console, across from sofa. TV would be in front of window(s).

Cheap idea for curtains not your question.... each 1 for each 100"W, 1 for each window and 2 for side wall's window.

PRO4 years agoWe might suggest trying to move the TV to the wall with no windows, and then place seating facing the TV.
