Comments (1)Some pictures would help. But it sounds like you have a studio apartment. With an east facing window, this also suggest you only get morning natural light, the rest of the day with no natural light. With this in mind, and if floor space is sufficient, I would suggest the following layout. Note you would need to make adjustments based upon the space you have available. Items in the floor plan: bed (one with storage headboard would be nice); 2 storage side tables with lamps on each side of the bed: recliner parallel with the bed; a free standing floor mirror next to the window; a floor lamp on each side of the sliding closet door; an entertainment unit with the TV on top at the foot of the bed (will need to cover electrical cords with a rug. Hope this helps....See MoreWall of Windows (and sliding door) update with Plantation Shutters?
Comments (4)For the Hunter Douglas Bypass Shutters you don't have to have a floor frame. It's an option and most of the one's we install do not have it because of the trip hazard and most people don't want to put screws through their floors. I would highly recommend them if your doing shutters on the other windows. It will all co-ordinate nicely....See MoreLift and slide vs stackable sliding glass patio doors
Comments (13)We are in the PNW and our architect recommended the Marvin or Western, which has a telescoping door system. We went with the Western door (3 panel) and saved money. We also did a flush threshold. The framers need to make sure to account for this so don’t let them forget it. Despite us telling our GC multiple times, the framers ended up having to go back and create the threshold lower so it would sit flush. Since you are in the PNW, you should account for rain on the threshold. Our door is under a covered porch so rain isn’t an issue....See MoreWhere to get very large multi-panel sliding glass door/wall?
Comments (18)Fleetwood. Western both mfg awesome aluminum. Just completed our third home with Fleetwood. @rogerc I've done two homes full of Fleetwood in that price range. There could be a significant cost for the beam above with posts and footings to support. At this span we're usually at steel with a moment frame setup depending on how many walls remain for lateral structural values. The imaginary rectangle around this unit needs to be very stiff and inflexible....See Moremillworkman
