I absolutely LOVE your shade. The three different patterned clears and whites are perfectly lovely. The pattern is simple and elegant. I prefer yours to the old family piece that hangs in my kitchen which I use because it has so many memories. My father rescued this more than 50 years ago from his uncle's barn loft where it was covered with hay and bird droppings. My parents used it in their kitchen, and, although it is too large for my space, I simply HAD to incorporate it. I am going to include a picture of mine because I thought you might want to consider using a similar light fixture that is totally inside your exquisite shade. One that has perhaps three bulbs and a diffuser below. This would, I think, illuminate the band more brilliantly, which I think is desirable. I am not sure that would work with the shape of your shade, but it might be worth considering. I hope you will smile at the thought that someday yours will hang in one of YOUR children's kitchen. And maybe your grandchild's. It really is that good. Is there a way you can put your name or initials and the date inside it? Maybe on the metal of the cap with a dremel? I would dolly them up with paint and find some cute shades for them. Or if you are really up for some fun, you could repurpose the shade frames from the ones you have, find a cute project on Pinterest and dolly them up too. Then I would sell them at a local consignment store. It's a fun project and you would be so surprised at how much you can get for them. I know a woman who loves to paint stuff, she opened a consignment store next to a Salvation Army and ends up finding a lot of her collections there on the cheap. She sells her stuff for 3-4 times what she's invested, its crazy. She can't find and make the stuff fast enough and now she teaches people how to paint so they can sell stuff at her store too! Her whole store looks like the two bottom pics.

The glass and metal lamp shade is a huge part of the value of that style lamp -- and you don't want to just "toss" it. It likely would sell on line -- Facebook Marketplace or Craigs List or Ebay, etc. -- or even a yard sale. If you are not interested in doing that, then, at the very least, donate it to a Habitat for Humanity Restore Store or a charity run thrift store near you that supports a cause in which you believe. IF you want a lamp upgrade, buy a new lamp -- a tall thin metal or wood one with a medium to large white shade. You might even find one you like at Habitat for Humanity Restore Store if you go by to donate the one you have.

A pair of these lamps were in a condo I purchased on the beach. I plan to paint them and wanted to replace the shades with ones that are less traditional with a more modern look. I would appreciate any ideas. Thank you.
