This is a fun post. I will say that in my busy working military life, I could get up, shower, shave underarms (daily), legs (3x weekly)makeup (eye shadow, mascara, foundation, powder, lipstick), hair (washed and blow dried, very short), dressed and out the door in 25 minutes. Now, years later, I use far less products and it seems to take far longer. When I was stationed in Spain I could get waxed, from top to toes, for about $7 so I never had to shave of pluck or anything. That made getting ready for work a real breeze. Now, in a typical morning I use: face wash - I use an Oil of Olay-type face cloth. hand wash - Dial Complete on all the sinks, two baths, mudroom, and kitchen. bar soap - I use a liquid soap; DH still uses the bars. :( shampoo - Daily conditioner - Perhaps once a week. hair serum - Never heard of it. hair mouse - No, but I keep a can of hairspray for the 3-4 times I year I might use it. toothpaste - At least five times a day. floss - Yes, but should more often. mouthwash - Listerine; twice a day for gum protection. shaving gel - Ha! The few times I shave I use shampoo. deodorant - Kept in both bathrooms and the bedroom. Wherever I dress I'm ready! body lotion - Rarely, but more so in winter. foot powder/or lotion - Gold Bond all over. face cream - No; but Mom says I should. foundation - Very rarely; 2-3 times a year. blush - I'm taking treatments for Rosacea so I'm good on the natural blush! LOL powder - Very rarely; 2-3 times a year. eyeshadow - Very rarely; 2-3 times a year. eyeliner - No; never liked the look. mascara - Can no longer wear. lipstick - Every day. I love lipstick with colour, but not the pale, dead looking non-color most gals are wearing now. I wear earrings daily, too. I love lipstick and earrings. And that's the daily stuff, add to that the occasional: hair coloring - I stopped coloring three months ago. I'm liking the "salt and pepper," heavy on the salt look! tooth whitening strips - No. nail polish/ base coat/top coat - I cut my nails as short as possible and push the cuticles back once a week. When I worked I kept them short and polished with a pale pink color. I did it my self. I do get medium length dark red gel nails for the Christmas season. nail polish remover - No need cuticle cream - No, but about every four months I'll get a manicure that does not include polish or false nails. They just soak, trim, work off the cuticles and do a hot wax dip. hand lotion - I keep bottles on each sink

Thanks so much everyone for the great responses. bobo - I wish I had pictures! The great room is chock full of items we're storing due to the remodel, so that won't help, but the existing chandy is over a very nice mahogany pool table. The layout of the front entry is loosely based on my inspiration photo below (which is more country, I know, but it's what I love). Our entry will be wider, and will have double front doors almost exactly like the pic posted below except they will also have a 10' wide custom transom above the doors and sidelights, and will be stained a deep, warm brown. These doors are very rustic, but fit the exterior of the house perfectly. I plan on using a hutch, grandfather clock, etc., in the space (and maybe even the stacked oval boxes, if I can get away with it). The floors will either be wood as in the pic or similar to the stone in our kitchen, also shown below. The arch between the entry and great room may have pillars and a beam in the same stain as the front door. Uxorial - I really like your chandelier and love your log home! Auntjen - your antler chandelier is obviously very special, since your father made it for you. I'd love to see it. kitchendetective - Arte de Mexico has a store very close by and they do have wonderful items. Their furniture is beautiful although perhaps a bit more rustic than the style I'm looking for (I'm more of a country farm table and hutch person), I did notice they had great lighting choices. It's been awhile so I'll have to visit the store again. littledog and okmoreh - you said exactly what I meant to say! I want my home to be decorated in the style my dh and I find appealing - elegant rustic meets early American country (he's the rustic and I'm the country!) but don't necessarily want to decorate in objects that labeled a definitive style. It's easy to cross the line and get "campy" with rustic decorating - which can be fun but not the look I'm aiming for :) I do find antler chandeliers done right to be beautiful pieces of sculpture, so hopefully I'm on the right track! To those of you who commented on Premier's statement - I wasn't offended in the slightest as reading his/her comments on other posts over the last few months caused me to immediately disregard his/her post on this thread! Multiple colors is not a problem - the Victorians did it all the time. Multiple gaudy colors, even. Yellow is a problem color - when the light filtered through tree leaves or bounced off a lawn hits it, it turns sickly green. BM shows "modern white", which is a very pale clean grey, as a coordinate color for Coastal plain. Using it as "the white" in all the rooms would tie things together. Gray Matters is a bit on the greenish side of grey, the others you mention are on the blue side ... that might be a problem. Do sample boards! The choice of Coastal Plain sort of declared the overall tone of the paint would be greenish ... shifting to a warm palette or a blue-toned greys might look off. I'll admit to a personal dislike of any shade of green on walls, so I'm not much help.

Since you face north east, you can use warm colors. I would make sure the ensuite complements the bedroom. I have a yellow bedroom with walls in a soft yellow and trim in BM Rever Pewter. It is a wonderful color, that works well with other colors. I would use it in your kitchen. (I love grey with wood tones.) And it would be good in the guest room, where you could get pops of color in accessories. Having so many different colors means you'll have more paint left over.
