The arrangement in #4 looks comfortable & welcoming. I think the leather chair looks better near a wall to anchor it since it has such a large profile. I think you are right - the room needs to be pulled together with colors. You could consider reupholstering the chairs in a fabric that picks up the color of the leather chair & the gold curtains. Maybe add red ball fringe to the inside edges of the curtains? Again, you are right - the color of the sofa contributes nothing to the other colors. YOu could try a slipcover, again repeating the color of the leather chair or the curtains. Once you have your fabrics you can determine a paint color that picks ups one of your dominant colors - just softer. I think the table lamps look better at the ends of the sofa rather than popping up in the middle of the wall cutout. You really have some nice 'bones' here - it just wants a little refining.

The measurements are: 31" tall 33" wide 32" deep My sofa is 35"H and other chair is 37"Hx32"Wx31"D That seems rather short, though from perspective of TV viewing perhaps that'd be OK since when swiveled around it may partially block the view from people sitting at the sectional. It will be placed partially in front of the bookcase so there is still something to draw the eye up. What do you think? It's been listed for 5 days--so I do think I could make an offer. In terms of looks, I'd also prefer a chair with legs, but then there is no swivel and I think the swivel will be more impt. so that it can function both as another chair for conversation and for TV occasional viewing. DH like the little leather chairs that are on a swivel stand and the stand is visable-yech! In 3-5 years when the teenagers move out I can always change it and with the price and fabric I won't worry if it gets worn.

You have a flair for decoration and your room is lovely. However, for a room to work comfort comes first and the animal skin looks like a tripping hazard and doesn't seem to leave room for a coffee table. Instead, find a large rug on which to place your furniture which will cover a good part of your space. Make it something beautiful and colorful. Everything here is beige and this room needs color badly. A geometric Oriental rug with mainly blues but also some warm tones would work well. However, if you prefer neutrals then go in that direction. Once the rug is in place I suggest a glass coffee table to break up the solid furniture pieces, or at least an ottoman that has long legs. I'd place another chair to the left of the couch to complete your furniture grouping. Please don't put an oversize monster there but rather a smaller but comfortable upholstered chair to complete your seating.

I'd use a finished, top grain leather myself, probably in the green/sage family, everything wipes off it and it's classic for a Chippendale chair. You can do those slip seats yourself, they're not hard though you will want to have an electric staple gun. If you go fabric, Crypton or Sunbrella Performance fabrics are soap and water cleanable.
