Thinking about painting window trim black...

I'm loving the trend of painting window trim black, but I'm unsure if it will fit my space.

The pictured furniture is staged, and not my style. I'm tempted to paint the two windows flanking the fireplace, the large picture window and arched frames, and possibly the fireplace mantle (I'd love the mantle to be wood, but that would be difficult based on the architecture).

This is a rough vision I have for decor in the space. I'd really like to warm the space up a bit and make it feel comfortable and homey with a more masculine vibe.

Also, related question: How should I handle curtains for the picture window? I will have top-down, bottom-up blinds fit for the window for privacy. I'm thinking of using a modern matte black rod and textured white curtains.

  • One long rod above the arches?
  • Two small rods to the sides at each side the window?
