Well, that's weird! That's not what I planned.
Comments (3)Purple, that looks eye-catching! I have been meaning to add another Dracaena stem or two to my single "tree". Never got around to it but seeing this photo, I'm definitely going to do it. Two looks so much nicer than one. And like the crown sticking out! :-D You're shooting for a Dracaena bonsai there....See MoreWell, that's annoying...way off estimates
Comments (7)I carefully planned all my beds--drew them out on paper, dug the sod, planted things either purchased or grown from seed via winter sowing. I bought 'designer hostas' at a local hosta nursery and planted them as directed according to height/width and was carefull to give each the space it needed. This year two have so far grown to twice the size I was told and yet another one has grown considerably larger than the amount of real estate I allotted it. Am I disappointed? Not so much. Am I surprised? You betcha. Wasn't expecting these 'mood swings' with plants that have performed reliably in years past. Am I surprised they're performing in a manner I didn't expect? Why would I be? Like humans and other living creatures, plants are alive and respond differently based on growing conditions that aren't normally exactly the same two years running. Do I expect my carefully planned, planted & tended beds to look the same year after year? Well, yeah, I guess I'd like that but am coming to realize it's just not realistic to expect that's gonna happen....See MoreFront Yard Garden Gets Local Professional Photographers Attention
Comments (33)Yes, he told me what he does and about his current exhibition of his work in our City Hall and his website were he posts his work. He gave me a flyer for it and everything. He told me he was a professional photographer. I would think that a professional photographer makes money off his work even if he had said nothing else to me. Personally I am very flattered if anyone wanted to take pictures of my roses. Its no effert in a case like this to share and I think both of us, the photographer and I, have benifitted. I get to see pictures of my roses and garden much better than anything I could ever do and he got access to my garden which really does have very beautiful roses. And he did not ask to go into my garden. I offered because its nice to share the beauty of the garden sometimes....See MoreWhats the most attention getting thing in your yard?
Comments (6)The most attention getting thing in my parent's yard is a HUGE rhododendron twice the size of an RV. When it blooms, the flowers reflect so much light that the light that comes through one window is pink. Totally blocks the view of the front of the house, which a lot of people seem to freak out about nowadays. However, it means you can get the newspaper or mail in your bathrobe on the weekend and no one can see you. I've never felt having your house visible from the road is desirable....See MoreElmer J Fudd
