Pop of Color or Paint All Entry Doors Hibiscus Yellow?
Please help me decide if I should paint all of my doors yellow or where to have my Pop(s) of color. The issues are that my house is a split-level mid-century modern home that sits wrong on the property so it has 2 front yards. The forced main entrance (because a carport was later added to the side yard) so you can see the kitchen patio doors and my shed doors at the main entrance, making it painful for me to decide on the door colors.
I painted my house BM Kendall Charcoal:
I want to paint my front door Hibiscus Yellow:
Given the issues mentioned above about my home, I am wondering if:
- I should paint all of my doors Hibiscus yellow (this is a pic of my real front entrance)?
2. Should I just paint the front door Hibiscus yellow and leave the other doors white (This is a pic of my real front entrance)?
3. Should I paint the front door and the Kitchen Patio doors Hibiscus yellow, leave the back doors white, and paint the shed doors Kendall Charcoal? At which point, the entry wall would match/pop and the shed wouldn't get visual attention upon entry (1st pic is not of my home but an example).

Comments (6)A question would be what is all the other doors in your home? I think uniformity is important. An entry closet door would not be the place to add a pop of color in my opinion, however a blind door using the same color of the wall could be an alternative. Comments (11)erika,,,light sand w/a 220-320 grit. wipe clean. use the shellac OR another wood sealer. You want to close off the pores. and, should the time come when you want to strip the paint, it will come off easily and not damage the wood. after the sealer or shellac is dry, lightly sand again w/the fine sandpaper to knock down any nibs. use your hand to feel it. wipe clean with mineral spirits. blow away any other dust particles with a shop vac or brush, wipe again w/tack cloth. you don't want any dust particles. lay the door on a sawhorse in a clean area. I always wet the floor where I' m painting so the little particles don't float up as you move. use a spray bottle mister and really dampen the area. buy the best brush. purdy or wooster,,,one meant for trim painting. you can get the budget pack w/the 3" and the angle 1.5" and save money. as for the paint, the color is on their paint chip. Classic Collection 1043D-chartreuse. they will also match any BM paint color. Here is my can for reference. also check to see if they have the Front Door Paint. I believe they do. check their website for that. and they will ship the paint. after the first coat, I use a wet/dry very fine grit sandpaper. wet it, and light go over the dry first coat. just enough to smooth out any brush marks. wipe w/wet paper towel or rag and dry. now you're ready for 2nd coat....See MoreAny color schemes pop into your head? Comments (2)I would continue the iron ore on the trim and very light warm gray on the siding. Are you thinking of board and batten when you replace the siding? Are you getting new garage doors. If so, think of styles with windows. I would remove the pine that is right by your entry and the evergreens along the center front. Get more of a variety of drought resistant plants. Comments (14)I'm going with no shutters, The house has a dark roof and black shutters (which don't fit appropriately, are vinyl and attached to the brick, not the window frame) and it is all too much dark. You house is lovely and deserves better. With the shutters off and your black front door, do black on the garage door. Do the muntins in the windows pop out? You could paint them black....See More

3 years agolast modified: 3 years agoI painted my front door BM Yellow Hibiscus and I will paint all other doors BM Simply White and add a fence near my carport to block the view of my shed.
My house has been painted BM Kendall Charcoal Satin. I asked my painter to paint all of the door frames and windows BM simply white but he mistaking painted the back window trims BM Kendall Charcoal semi-gloss (pictured below). But now that I see the window frames in BM Kendall Charcoal semi-gloss, I can't help but think that all of my door and window trims should be BM Kendall Charcoal Semi-gloss. What are your thoughts?
