what can I do to update my angelstone fireplace
Comments (1)Definitely get rid of the brass door and go for something more modern in black. If you want a bold change then I would paint that fireplace a crisp and clean white. Really brightens and updates the room. here are some examples....See MoreHow do I update “half wall” above fireplace
Comments (24)Taking Erinsean's idea about adding drywall to the front of the hearth, here are a couple more ideas. I have kept your existing wall decor, but there are certainly other options there as the wall becomes more of a normal backdrop. Here's how it might look if you drywall over the stones and the face of the hearth and then grey was the hearth and put some slate around the opening with a white mantel surround and our Carolina Window Pane Fireplace Door. To achieve this look you would need to float the fireplace opening out with bricks before installing the slate. Here's the same concept without the slate and mantel just using our Legend Fireplace Door with Custom Tuscan Leaf Surround. You cannot use drywall right up to the fireplace opening because it is combustible, so you would need to float the fireplace opening out with bricks and then plaster over the bricks to finish flush with the drywall. Bit of a challenge, but doable. Hansen Wholesale specializes in Custom Fireplace Doors....See MoreWhat should I do to update this fireplace if anything?
Comments (16)Love the hide the TV art piece idea. And the chunky mantle would be wonderful. The sectional is about 4 feet away from slider. The room isn’t very wide. There is a step down into the living area from dining and main hall so if swapped sectional it would close off access to the room. Off of main hall. I am attaching other photos. There is a weird sink cabinet area in living (house was built in the 80s). I need to figure that out eventually. The end table is too big by the fireplace. I totally agree. We do need a small table there since it has our modem, cable box, security system and cordless phone on it and they can’t be moved due to wiring. As far as the pendant light goes. That was my original thought but instead choice a more practical idea with very large ceiling fan. Although the pendant light would look better design wise. This space had popcorn ceilings and no recessed lights And was bright yellow when we bought it. The kitchen and dining had track lighting. So we made quite a few changes but most of the changes went to our bathrooms....See MoreUpdate on 70s rock fireplace........now what?
Comments (8)I agree with trimming the mantel length just a bit, maybe 12" each end. Currently it cuts the FP in half. It would visually flow with shorter mantel. What about a pair of light wood or cream (or light to medium green) painted chests on either side, with mismatched but similar lamps and artwork above. Artwork can be large pieces, or one large piece and other side stacked, or both stacked. Depends on how uniformed you like your spaces. I like more fluid spaces....See Moreroarah
