Wood floors in kitchen -match or complement the cabinets?
Comments (3)Whether or not to match or complement depends on many factors (size of kitchen, number of cabinets, the overall feel of your kitchen etc.) But for what it is worth, I like kitchens in which there is some contrast between the floor and the cabinets. I've seen many pretty kitchen lately in which the cherry cabinets are almost an exact match for the wood floors. It creates an almost "womb"-like effect -- one feels engulfed in the same tone of wood. This isn't a bad look -- but I would prefer a bit more contrast to set off the floor and cabinets....See MoreWhat bathroom flooring to complement golden oak trim?
Comments (10)I put it in five years ago and it's been great. It is grouted. The only damage reviews I saw were in kitchens where people were pushing chairs back and forth. That's not an issue in bathrooms. I haven't found it hard to clean but I don't wear shoes in there. I mop it with hot water now and then. Usually I just go over it with a damp terry cloth rag. I'm using the same tile in my master bath. This is one of my leftover tiles....See MorePaint choice with honey oak cabinets and trim
Comments (3)Here's a picture of it next to what appears to be honey oak floors and it looks nice: Edgecomb Gray (Kylie M Interiors) Definitely try a sample of it in your space and look at it on different walls at different times of day to see if you like it in your lighting with all the other elements in your space. In my lighting the paint chip tends to skew a little purple, but I haven't heard anyone else mention that. I prefer Alaskan Skies (BM-972), which is very similar to Edgecomb Gray but doesn't skew purplish to me. The guy at our paint store tried to tell me Edgecomb Gray was the same color as Alaskan Skies, just a different name (they no longer carry the Alaskan Skies paint chip in our local store), but I can definitely detect a difference....See MoreHelp! red oak floors pink and white oak cabinets going in
Comments (35)We went with natural red oak - we love the lighter flooring throughout our home - and a contrasting stained white oak cabinet (I think it’s with special walnut). Contrast is more restrained in person and cabs are darker than we envisioned - originally we were thinking less contrast - but we’re very happy with how it turned out! We also have a good amount of white in the kitchen....See MoreDeanna Moore
