I am posting a room to see what finished looks like and so you can see if there are any concepts you can transfer to your room....your room looks perfect but maybe you need some surprises..... the room below has an interesting orb type chandelier which is what you want to add, so good there, the rug has texture and contrast, which you want to add, there is some interesting mirror placement that add sparkle; maybe small mirrors on either side of the art work or above the curtain panels.....but add sparkle somewhere in the room for contrast.....thinking antiqued mirror or lamp shade? The mantle is great done in silver and bronze paint, and I like the carved wood for texture and the red flowers to match the curtains and art work for a spot of color....nothing very big, except the unique chandelier, just a nice mix....oh and love the leather ottoman, in a deeper color that reiterates the wall color, a nice room and it might inspire you to add small thoughtful pieces as you go along....oh and love the rug that was suggested; it will be the bomb I hope.....lastly I know you have curtains, but maybe an interesting tape on the leading edge in a patterned design to add some life to the curtains....your room looks safe but added touches will enliven it up and give it some contrast and oomph.....love the TV stand! Genius!

Someone said: I believe the Houzz experts (and I am NOT one!) suggest the TV be 2/3 the width of the TV cabinet. No no no no no. The TV cabinet needs to be at least 25% wider than the TV. Wider is always better. There is no minimum size for the TV. Do not hang that guitar between the windows. Do not hang anything between the windows. Your curtains are perfect. Hang the guitar on the wall just left of the TV, get some art for over the sofa, and add just a touch more red to echo the arc lamp (which is tres cool, BTW). You've done a great job so far. You've got this.

thanks all! Pic attached of the nested tables turned to the side and the answers to some of the questions I got from you all. The nested tables are definitely functional. We used them right away but I can probably find better. The arm of the sofa is 23 inches and the nested table is 23 inches so in terms of size I think they work but maybe just a better style? I plan to change the lamp. (again I think I can find something better) and I continue to search for the right ottoman, wall art and ceiling light fixture. I think I might attempt black and white photos of my family in black frames like Grover has the layout that was posted. I picked up some other accessories (see 2nd pic) The TV still needs to come down. I am trying desperately to avoid window treatments and or wait until the end so make my decision on that. I want something very simple. maybe bamboo shades?

I cannot make out what is around the fireplace opening. It looks like there are some marble slab pieces just floating there with some drywall. Can you post a higher resolution picture closer to the fireplace so we can make out the details. The Mantel is beautiful, but the fireplace does not fit the proportions of the mantel. Is it a direct vent gas fireplace with a sealed glass front? Also, are you keeping the hearth? I see it has a "B" in the center, which seems rather intentional. Here's a mockup that helps bring some things back into proportion. Just using marble slab like what is already there, but made to fit the whole fireplace. Unfortunately, this type of screen will sit right on top of the "B". Just thought I'd throw this together to start the conversation.
