Angelwing cane begonia-repot? Fertilizer?

User

Hi!

I was recently gifted my husband’s grandmother’s angelwing cane begonia. Was told it’s old. MIL says she always remembers it.

It was over 4’ tall and very leggy. Beginning of Sept. I cut it back 2/3 (was afraid to cut it more at once after reading conflicting info.) and am in process of making smaller plants to gift from the cuttings.

Was told the soil is very old. After cutting it needed watered so I submerged the pot in water until bubbles stopped and then added 1/4 teaspoon miracle grow liquid fertilizer to a gal of water. There’s now some new growth.

It doesn’t appear rootbound when I lift it out of pot.

*Should I wait until spring to repot?

*When and how often should I fertilize? I used miracle grow because that’s what I had but was looking to purchase Dyna-Gro Foliage-Pro 9-3-6 for my house plants.

*When I repot should it be in a larger planter?

Any other advice appreciated! Thanks!

(have only a few house plants and never owned a begonia)
