I need help choosing a roof color, shutter color, new door style
We are getting a roof replacement and need help choosing a color for the roof. Will be using GAF Timberline HD shingles. Debating between Charcoal, Slate, Pewter Gray, and Weathered Wood. We are considering painting shutters and door black. I think that weathered wood may be too brown for our house color which is a bit more grey (house color is Anonymous 7046 by Sherwin Williams and trim paint is Amazing Gray 7044, current door and shutter color is Porpoise 7047). Should we paint our shutters and door a different color? I am also looking at changing the door to a new style but I am not sure what style will look the best with our house. Thanks in advance for the recommendations!

Comments (11)I know what you mean, we do like the color that is on it now, but would like something a little different to look at.....it sure is hard to choose....in the brown family there are so many! We found an aged redwood color we kinda like will have to see what it looks like on an actual shingle to know for sure....I know any brown would work, and being the house is really a neutral color it shouldn't be as hard as I am making it....just don't want to make a BIG mistake!!! Comments (21)Lars, she isn’t in Texas, but she is, nevertheless, in the south with all its heat and humidity. We have discussed making sure there is sufficient attic ventilation to help with heat gain in the house and to also prevent damage to the roof. I don’t know that solar panels, as I know them, would be allowed under the covenants and restrictions in her neighborhood. For her, they would have to go on the front of the house because the rear is too shaded and in the wrong direction. I don’t think the Tesla shingles are commercially viable yet, are they? Comments (7)I dont think peweter gray is the best color for your house with your brick. A brown color would work much better. Looks like thats what you have now too, by your picture. Also do not pick shingles that are variegated light to dark, nor the architectural style, they will fight with your brick, and you will hate it. You need to use a standard solid color shingle, on your roof. I also dont mind the brown door or shutter color, but, the light tan trim, just looks like it does not belong....See More

3 years agoThe current roof color looks nice. You could go a little lighter such as the medium gray in this photo. The double windows on the right side of your house are too wide for shutters.
